I tried that. It's pretty tough to do when everyone is talking about the game.

It's still bush league for the MLB to have weekday afternoon games in the playoffs, who the hell thought that was a good idea? No other sport does that, maybe because they actually want to give their fans an opportunity to watch the games live

The Division Series has been around since the mid 90s. This has never been an issue in other markets/other fanbase. I get it, some of us returned to watching baseball/hopped back in the bandwagon in 2015, but just a huge FYI...if you're not in the big US baseball markets (ie: Canada), your teams' division series usually starts earlier than primetime.
Plus come on, we live in the internet age. If you really want the latest regarding this series, download the at bat app, the score app, or stream the fan590/960 on your mobile phone. This ain't 1992 or 1993 anymore, it's 2015...if you want something, go get it on the internet.

For this situation when it is all 4 games on one day, they should make an overlap of the games. An hour or two between each game seems fair.

Would the game tomorrow be on Sirius radio at all tomorrow? I'm driving home tomorrow morning so can't watch.

There's concussion protocol, JD didn't just get up and walk off the field, he was probably told he had to go. I'm sure if you asked Rose about the good ole days he would tell you he walked 5 miles to school and back each day, uphill both ways. In 5 feet of snow.

Just because it's the way it's always been doesn't make it not stupid. I want to watch the game not follow it on some stupid app on my phone. I'm not going to be able to watch a single moment of this series. I've been waiting for 22 years, what's another 22? Maybe I'll luck out and I'll be retired then so I can actually watch the games.
The mindset of not overlapping the games is so dumb, it literally costs them hundreds of thousands of viewers.

Oh trust me, I know what the word "waiting" means as a lifelong Jays fan. Sunday's game is going to be a primetime schedule so I hope that helps.

I didn't realize game 3 was later, that makes it a bit better, definitely going to catch that.
Why is game 3 later though? Wouldn't it still be competing against the "big market" teams? Don't they all play every day?

That game will be going up against the 49ers/Giants NFL game and will get absolutely crushed in the ratings. That's why they don't care what time that game goes at. There's only one other baseball game that day and it's on earlier.

So Hou stumbles their way into the playoffs and, bam! 2-0
KC takes 2 out of 3 on the final weekend to get home field advantage and, bam! down 1-0

on a depressing note (in case people aren't depressed enough yet), the team that wins game 1 has won the last 8 divisional series

All Texas ALCS then?
I'd love for the Blue Jays to break that stat though.

I'll go with whoever wins the game tomorrow wins the series, and that all depends on how composed Stroman can be under the most intense conditions he's ever played in

On a positive note: thank the baseball gods that Yu Darvish had his Tommy John this year. I'd be more down and depressed if that guy was in the rotation for Texas this year.

I think that if he loses his next start that you don't bother re-signing him. Can't have a player that chokes in the playoffs, as good as he is. I'd rather get Zack Greinke or Jordan Zimmermann if everything is equal.

I like how every terrible aspect of professional baseball can be explained away by tradition. Well this sport has finally been dragged into the 21st century the last few years with instant replay and coaches challenge, maybe it's time to also update the archaic playoff TV format

I don't think "bush league'' is the proper term, I echo the other guys comments that they have always had afternoon games until the World Series. In terms of the paying customers afternoon games with the sun out are much more entertaining then under the lights, it's unique and there is a certain flavour to it. Baseball is not as compelling as some of the other sports, you have to have the traditions to keep it interesting. Even the new stadiums try to maintain a certain nostalgic feel to them, and some of the old ones are still around.
In terms of logistics, they would either have to run the games simultaneously or schedule them Into late November.
I have to admit that I have not wAtched a game in ages, when did the Astros move to the American League?

Or just take 10-15 games off the sked, 162 seems fairly over the top anyway. Early afternoon playoff games just seems silly, and a little bizarre. Hockey/basketball overlap their games, and football saves it for the weekend. What makes baseball so special?
Agreed that the timing of these games has taken some of the wind out of the sails for me as well, it's just not the same when you can't watch it.
PS- regarding streaming the game at work. Idk about you guys, but in my experience trying that in the past, streaming shared work internet videos on a mobile device tends to be a laggy/freezing, frustrating affair.
