Hence why I think they ought to run with the idea they had in early camp
Gaudreau - Monahan - Ferland
Hudler - Bennett - Frolik
Hudler will get Bennett going. Ferland has been one of the better players to this point and can fill in fine. Gaudreau and Monahan can still be very dangerous on their own.
There's no reason for the forward lines to be so top-heavy. That makes us too easy to shut down. Once the depth lines get their mojo going, then you can reunite the big three. But this is what they should've started the season with IMO.
If things don't start well on Satuday, I hope Bob does this.

Giordano was every bit as bad as Hamilton last night, and he is the one who i supposed to be setting the tempo for the team.
Are you going to sit him after one bad game to? Might as well sit the entire ####ing team if you are basing it solely off of last nights performances.
This team will be fine.

Obvious next question, team only has 6 dman on the roster.
I doubt, Coaches have any intention of sitting Hamilton etc.
No one on the Farm team, I would recall to put in the top 4.

Who suggested sitting Hamilton? Jesus, it's been one game and everyone played like crap.
Look on the bright side, at least I got really drunk.

Biggest thing that scared me last night was just how slow we looked. Granted, a lot of that was players just not moving their feet, but then I started to think about all the players not in the lineup anymore:
Raymond
Byron
Colborne
Brodie
4 really speedy guys who we don't have out there right now.

Brodie is a huge factor on team speed. Huge.
but last night's game is exactly what I was talking about with respect to Byron adding energy to the team - that was exactly the kind of game where his energy can create momentum

Except Byron didn't show any of that "energy" during the pre-season, and it cost him his spot on the roster.

Yeah, a Jack Adams means you're pretty good at coaching. Doubtful any of us has better insight than Hartley, with Sutter that was debatable.

No kidding... Lots of the guys played decent but just seemed to be a little off their timing. Gaudreau stood out to me as just being a half second behind where he wants to be. Had his opportunities but just couldn't seem to accomplish what he wanted to do.
Once the momentum shifted away from the Flames it snowballed. One game does not a season make.

It is strange. I loved what I saw out of the Hudler-Frolik-Bennett line during preseason, and exactly the kind of line shake up necessary to prevent stagnation early in a season.
Ferland looked just fine playing along side Monahan and Gaudreau. While Ferland may not be the ideal top 6 winger the Flames need, he does have enough skill to keep that line successful.
As for Ramo, he faced a ton of rubber and let in at least one really bad goal. Not going to lynch him yet. But I am on the Hiller/Ortio side of this seasons great debate. With how fine an edge it is in the early performances in camp, any weakness shown by any goalie is going to get over magnified, Ramo was just the first out of the gate. Let's how how the other two do in their games. I wonder if Hartley has Ortio penciled in for the St.Louis game.

Feel pretty bad for ramo. Wayy too many odd man rushes. I'd hesitate to say 'what best d in the league', but the line changes were just bad news in general. Hartley will straighten these cats out!

I don't even think its that big of a loss, its game one, if they come out flat and disorganized in game two call me a bit concerned.
Personally I wouldn't even change the lineup, the message is redemption.
I would even keep Ramo in.
Then if they get blammo'd I switch things up.

We have Hamilton who is still figuring out the system and we are missing our number two defenceman right now.

I have refrained from commenting on the game yet and read every page of this thread. CP truly is an interesting beast after a loss like last night.
It is one game, why are so many people jumping on these guys. A couple of guys played ok, the rest of the team played terribly. No way Ramo deserves to start the next game, he didn't earn it after that performance.
The vets need to lead the way and come in on Saturday night playing flames hockey, our leaders let us down last night, not our youngsters.
I'll reserve the "let's trade him.." and the "this guy deserves to be in the press box or send him down to the farm team..." comments if this trend continues into the next week of games. This team won't play like this for long.

I think it sends the wrong message to the team and the other two goalies to put Ramo in again on Saturday, especially after Hartley's "he played about as well as the rest of the team" (awful) comment. Fully expect Hiller to be between the pipes this weekend.

I believe Hartley has already said that Hiller is starting.
