i purchased gamecenter using unblock us but i had to supply an address outside of Canada or the us....random Icelandic hotel it is! paid with pay pal...
we'll see if this actually goes through. Are pre-season games available or do i need to wait for regular season to start to test this out?

Mine is working, but I'm already getting blackouts from certain games. I used a fake American address too, and use unblock, and am getting blackouts. Not sure why.

According to the email I received, the first broadcast for US gamecenter will be Oct 7, that may be why you are seeing blackouts

Even with using unblock us, the US website for gamecenter said that local games would be blacked out. Which in my case was Colorado.

It's weird - logging on on my laptop and I was able to watch some games yesterday. Tried logging into the app on my phone just now, and no games are available until like you said October 7th.

Well I watched a few preseason games on my computer on GC, and I'm not exactly enamored by they picture quality, although it's sufficient.
I haven't yet watched a live game on my PS4+TV yet, so I'll have to reserve judgement until later. Good usability though so far.
I noticed that I was subject to blackouts though for the Ducks preseason game. I will have to see if I can use VPN to get around that in the future.

I had to use VPN service to watch any Kings or Ducks games last year, they are both blacked out in SoCal

That`s always been the issue in ``cutting the cord``, quality. People tell me they have this and that great solution but when you ask about quality, its always, well its ok...

Does Shaw still have a free preview of Center Ice now that the regular season is starting?

Honestly the playstation app has been utterly terrible in the past.
Just renewing the thing now. It was supposed to auto renew and didn't. Like everything else that has to do with Rogers, this whole customer service process is an absolute disaster.

I have now been on the phone for an hour. They have had no difficulty charging me for the service, but actually getting it to work is of course another story. I hate rogers and would very much enjoy watching whoever is in charge of this burned slowly to death.

Having issues that I see others are experiencing with the mobile app restricted to Gamecenter instead of allowing Rogers (Canadian) logins.

A major problem with the quality, at least for Flames games, is that Sportsnet has such crappy HD cameras.
When I switch to another game it always looks so much better.

So the verdict so far:
The gamecenter quality on the PS4+TV was for all intensive purposes as good as watching normal TV in HD. The problem for me was consistent quality. It would vary from crisp picture and sound, so SD quality picture and sound, and then bounce back again.
I just moved into a new house so my network is still a work in progress. I was running the PS4 on wireless, and my router is a good ways away from the PS4. If I can get the consistent high quality, I will be ecstatic about the purchase. I'll have to fiddle around with my network before I make a final judgement of gamecenter.
However, I do have a free trial of Center Ice this time through a different provider, and just like the last couple of years, the game was in SD last night in the SoCal region. Gross. Even with the varying quality, game center beats out center ice for me.

I hate you almost as much as I hate Rogers.

I'm glad that pissed off at least 1 person
One quirky note: I made my original Playstation profile ages ago when I still lived in Canada, and you can't update your region on your profile. If you have a Canadian PSN profile, you HAVE to use your Rogers username and pass, not your NHL.com one.
I had to create a new playstation profile yesterday to get around the Rogers monopoly. It took me actually about 25 minutes to figure out WTF my NHL.com username and pass weren't working.
