Found an awsome glitch where I put the puck in the net but there's no goal. Crossed the line multiple times and the dman pulls the puck out. 145 shots in a row with no goal counted.

Anyone else having people they play doing the pull back toe drag and sniping a goal almost every time?
I have been able to do it pretty consistently in practice mode.

Thoroughly disappointed in NHL 2016. I don't play HUT or Be a Pro. I mostly play online versus with friends. I can't really see any improvement from 2015. If it's wasn't for the roster changes and the mascots banging on the glass, I really would have no clue I was playing the newer version. In fact the game actually seems a little slower than 2015. You lose the puck constantly for no good reason, hitting is far too simple, and when you combine that with the poke checking you get a game that is almost unplayable among two people who are good players. Basically first guy to miss a poke check loses, or neither missed a poke check and some garbage goal on an easy shot from a bad angle ends it in OT despite the goalie making 30 ridiculous saves before that.

Anyone know where the option to turn off on-ice assistance is? I don't need all these lights to tell me to deke or faceoff constantly...

You can turn aspects (or all of it) off globally through one of the Settings sub-menus in the main screen (not in one of the game modes ie. Be A GM, Be a Pro, etc.).

I also was a cry baby about EA Sports NHL, in fact I've bitched and moaned about their idiocy and this franchise on this very website a couple times. Anyway I finally broke down because ultimately I'm addicted to this stuff and bought an Xbox1 and NHL. So far so good but...........
my favourite part is in the Be A Pro mode, how after you save it once or twice it auto switches to full 20 minute periods due to a glitch and I can't seem to find a resolution to that which is annoying.
Also no custom teams, WTF? I can't wait til they reinsert that feature into the game as a new feature, just like they ####ing do with everything. Next year they'll take out passing the puck only to reintroduce it in NHL 19. So stupid.

I wish NHL 16 was more like madden. Once the whistle goes it should immediately go to face off. So much bloody time is wasted because someone is texting or something and won't push A.

I can't believe how many stats are not kept track of yet it would be so simple to add. For example 'shots blocked'

This is one reason I don't play online. And pausing too. Why the hell can you pause an online match? What other games allow you to do that?

Finally played some online HUT today after doing a dozen or so offline games to build up a respectable team.
The lag was pretty severe in 2 and mild in the other. That was disappointing.
Regarding the gameplay, I didn't really feel like any of the players were trying any sort of cheese or glitch, but I pretty much constantly felt frustrated. I lost the first two games in overtime and the last was a 3-1 loss. Pretty much all of the goals scored in the games were lame. I have no problem losing, but at least make me feel like I got my moneys worth. Not some random lame wrister from a terrible angle that was going so slow it wouldn't even get a speeding ticket on a highway.
I will keep trying, and hopefully with less lag the games are more enjoyable. I just have to keep resisting the urge to buy packs so my team is competitive...

The game gets better, you can overcome the pokechecks and the unlucky goals for the most part. there are layers of learning and a few faults.
1. Playing with AI forwards; the switching between teammates button often takes you to a player not immediately by the puck.
2. Playing with AI forwards; they are insansely slow to react. It breaks game immersion entirely because if you are able to actually switch to the player standing still in front of the puck a PC controlled forward will move and respond as if he's conscious. These two problems create what is an incredibly frustrating task of watching two offensive players stand still in front of the net staring blankly while flicking around between the d and the third forward.
3. Playing all online is equally frustrating, the passing is so tough that 5 people can rarely string a few passes together when it's possible with AI teammates.

I do want to ask you HUT guys a team building strategy question...
So my situation is that I did not pre-order the game and did not play last year, so aside from the cards I got for building my team, I will have no freebies coming in. I also do not want to spend real money for packs. With that said, I started off playing the offline games to build pucks and at least get an nhl team. I am happy that unlike years past when I played, you can make a decent living grinding pucks. I get about 1000 pucks per game and I remember several years ago it was only half that.
Anywho, my question is this: should I buy packs?
My debate (and what I am hoping you guys can shed light on) is this: while there are tons of low 80s players available for under 500 pucks, players quickly escalate to amounts that would take me weeks or months to attain. I can't imagine grinding that many games out with this sub-par roster just to add 1 player and start all over again.
So should I be thinking about investing in packs and trying to get lucky so I can flip a player? I have watched many packet openings on twitch, and they almost always seem lousy. So I'm not sure if I should throw my hard earned pucks away or not.
Also, I know lots of people have great stories about just cruising auctions. But I only have limited times to play now, and though I do keep an eye out for deals, my problem is that I am dealing in small quantities. Because I can only afford cheap cards, the profit is smaller. I don't have the pucks to buy Zetterberg for 100k and flip him for 130k. (example numbers obviously) The players I can afford would only be undervalued by a few hundred pucks and at that point I'm probably better suited to just play a game and earn pucks instead of staring at menu screens for hours.
My apologies for the long post. Thanks for reading.
TL;DR - are packs worth a gamble for a non pay player?

I look at buying packs like I do with scratch tickets. If you have extra coins sitting around and are bored open a pack. It seems if you only open them once in a while you get better pulls. I pulled a gilmore and totw vrbata last season so it's not a great way to make coins.
Buying bronze packs though will usually give you at least a small return (200-1000 per pack) and is a good way to slowly build coins. Many people swear by the 59 minute method. Search for gold players with a minimum buyout and scroll to the 59 minute mark and buy a bunch of players you can make a profit off and re-sell them. This year though it seems like we get more coins per game and you can do the single player seasons to build up coins.
I prefer to buy the players I want with coins from games.

I have opened over 12 gold packs and purchased 3 of the $15 guaranteed 24 rare item packs and have not gotten a player rated better than 85.
My suggestion is to grind your way to some cash and start flipping players who are worth 30,000+. Find one who's under-valued and sell him for thousands more.

thanks for the feedback guys. what likwid describes is exactly what i fear. spending money and getting crap in return.
it seems crazy though that i can get a team full of 84-85 level guys for maybe 10k total pucks, yet to get just 1 player that is 86 or 87 would cost multiple times that. aside from getting to use players you like, it doesn't seem like there is much benefit?

Don't buy pucks with coins.
Use your coins to start building out a collection. Play with that team, and start building up towards completing the entire collection. Get your free packs from completing the collection and use those players on your team. Sell everyone that you can and complete the next collection.
See here for a listing of collections prices - https://www.reddit.com/r/NHLHUT/comm...ableformatted/
You should be able to build out a decent team using this strategy.
There's two free packs on the store right now, up for zero coins, for the home opener. Get those before it's too late!
If you buy packs with money, don't buy any of the 12 rare, 30 gold with 20 rare packs - wait until the player jumbo premiums, where you get all gold rare players. These have the highest chance of pulling a good player, since you're not wasting rares on consumables.

In the settings menu, make sure to switch 'Assistant Coach Edits Lines' option to OFF. This will prevent the CPU from automatically adjusting lines and sending down/calling up players.
Then, in the Manage Roster screen you should be able to send down/recall players from the AHL/CHL. Of course, as soon as you send down a Junior eligible player they will stay in the CHL for the year.
In the first year I played Bennett on my third line, and by the end of the year he was an 83 (from growth and positive moral) and playing on my second line.
