I had my headphones off and was coming back into the room when Gio decked Monahan by accident. Thought it was like Bollig and Engelland. Check instant replay. LOL NOPE. We're in for some chop tonight folks...

1) 2 on 1, almost a perfect shot
2) odd man rush, puck batted out of the air
3) rebound went off a leg and into the net
4) Wideman own goal
5) Got caught late, Sedin banked it in off his arm

Not saying Ramo is faultless, because he wasn't, but if you're going to pick Ramo apart like that, context is important...

I feel for ya - I live in BC now as well and it's.....not pleasant watching 'nuck fans. But tonight I was in the Dome and it was just as "not pleasant". Blech.

Meh. Yeah it was a terrible showing, losing the first game at home. Always sucks losing to the Canucks. That said, the only way to go is up from here. Our timing was so off tonight but I'm not worried. The team and coach knows what needs to be fixed.

Worst game we've played going back to before the brawl vs the Canucks IMO, similar to last years opener but even worse.

Poor decisions all over the ice, terrible pinches, no puck support, and just a very disjointed effort.

Liked Ferlands game a lot, thought he showed a lot of skill and grit tonight. Ramo needs to be better but got no support at all in the game.

Lots to work on before Saturday for sure.

Maybe I'm a naive optimist, or a stupid homer, but I'm still feeling good.

Ferland and the whole Frolik line were really solid.
The top line was good. Created chances in the zone, but eyes are on them now, they can't sneak into the zone so easily. Stajan made some good plays.

Bennett and Hamilton looked nervous. Weren't spectacular, but certainly weren't bad (Hamilton with a few 'duh' moments).

Ramo was super weak. Engelland and Bollig weren't anything good either. Wideman is good enough not to make those idiotic mistakes.

Everyone else just 'was'. Not good, not bad. Just played the game.

Every bad bounce went in, Ramo missed saves he needed to have, Flames had nothing go their way.

All-in-all, not terrible. They're still growing. Saw plenty of brutal games last year, and they still did just fine. Don't forget how they got to the second round last year: they clawed their way in. They got smacked around and just kept at it.

This team still has that.
We're just passionate fans that were pumped for the opener and werent expecting that.

Ramo made some 3 bell saves and he also let in 2 or 3 bad goals.
Having 5 scored against is not good performance no matter how you slice it.
Gio and Johnny were uncharacteristically bad. Jones and Bolig were brutal but Wideman suuuucked so bad all game.
45 out of 60 min of crappy hockey.
Way too many turnovers for no reason. Just dumb decisions.
Didn't expect them to win. They just don't win home openers, the chemistry is not there it is off every game homeopener it seems. Bring on game 2 instead.

The only goal against that Kulak was on the ice for was that soft short-side from the wing. He was a 63% SAT at even-strength too. Not a bad debut for the rookie.
More positives:

Hudler and Gaudreau are a PPG this season.
If Montreal waives Paul Byron, we can claim him again.

okay, that's all I've got but I'll keep brainstorming.

Ferland, Frolik & Kulak were good. Everyone else in red was not.

Yeah, not blaming Ramo, I just figured once one goalie is knocked out of the starter spot he goes to the bottom of the list.

The fact is we don't have a #1 tender. Hiller and Ramo are not consistant enough over an entire season to fill that void. Our hope lies in either Ortio or Gilles.

actually didn't think it was one-sided. If anything they kept talking about irrelevant things that were not related to the game are Romanuk would say something then pause for like 5 seconds.

When the best part of the night is the fans chanting Lets go Blue Jays, you know it's a great game.
