Ortio plays with his glove up like that, but he doesn't twist it down to save - he goes straight down with the glove if the puck comes in lower - it looked weird to me, but actually makes more sense. I wonder if Ramo is trying to adopt that style but slipped to his old position, creating the hole.

Yeaah he's a bust, just put him on waivers and replace him with the other Hamilton.

Frustrating. I thought we dominated the first ten minutes. Then Engelland got pinned in our end for two minutes, took a penalty and they've been all over us since.

Well he did drop his glove at the last second and you don't usually see goals like that nowadays, I can understand the criticism.

It ain't pretty.
It's a single period of a team that notoriously comes out of the gates slow. Highly doubtful Brodie makes a difference in that period as it was just a bad period for the team.

Sounds like Kulak got benched after the Hansen goal. Don't think he deserves that, but whatever.

Whoa boys Flames dominated the first half of the period. Canucks had no sustained pressure, great snipe and then batted one out of the air.

The only corner it was heading to was the far corner in the Canucks end. It went out and to his left a bit. Sutter was near the edge of the circle.

Fine with him on PP2 but if there's anything Wideman's good for it's QB'ing that first unit.

Pang's explanation makes a lot of sense. I remember the dramatic Mike Vernon saves when I was a kid, and it was all starting down and moving up. I wonder how many are left that play that style?

That was a brutal first period. Add in the bad lines changes and too many odd man rushes by the Nucks with one resulting in a goal. Our focus has to be better.

The puck was moving at maybe a kilometer an hour. There's no need to put it to your back door

I still have some doubts whether Bennett is ready. Not sure if it's just a matter of generating chemistry with linemates or what, but haven't seen what I'd like to from him so far in pre-season and in this game. Hopefully that changes.

Bernier had one like that tonight.

It wasn't horrible. I was just saying what the complaint was, in response to a query about "how anyone could call it a bad goal".
