Why so slow, Forum?

Seems so often lately, that the forum will take forever to load a page. Is this temporary, or do we have to bribe KG to eat 30 more JBCs to fix this?

Forum is brutal slow right now.

Yeah not sure if there's something specific or if it's just the load. The load does seem to swing wildly from low to extreme which almost feels like something specific.

I know the post thanks stuff is still horribly inefficient and contributes significantly, turning off thanks temporarily might be something to try.

I've also moved a few 10,000+ post threads which do tend to slow things down significantly.

I've also had a new database server build up for new forum software for a bit and maybe will move the forum to use that database server.

FYI there are some ads that are taking forever to load, blocking the forum pages from loading.

I strongly suspect that often the perceived slowness of the site is actually caused by the many calls to external ad servers.

Yeah between Thanks and the 10k post threads being moved it seems to have done enough for now.

Crawwwwwling for me the last couple days. Actually had a timeout a minute ago. And many partially loaded pages.

Just thought I would bump this.

I have found this forum is very slow recently, especially when submitting a new or edited post. I have even had it time out on me. It doesn't happen for me on other forums I visit and it happens across several computers/devices.

Probably need to do another hunt for overly large threads, will take a look.
