A Lib candidate did say that Jews should be aborted. But whatever. As with that candidate I think this is obviously a religious/ethnic issue than a CPC party issue. Harper said he supports Ontario sex ed a while ago on the news. As a kid who did suffer a "shock" and went to "straight coaching", I'd suggest a witch hunt to get rid of any other nutters in the bar. The issue I see with the party is that they can't seem to get rid of these people before they become election issues.

You don't think it's been a bit more prevalent in the CPC over the last few years? I think the other issue was we were waiting to see how the CPC handled it. In the Liberal and NDP situations the candidates either resigned or were removed immediately. Good on the CPC for doing the right thing here.

Give me a Liberal saying we need to send gays to gay conversion camp or an NDP policy calling for a "tip line" for cultures not quite in line with our values and I will grab my pitchfork and ridicule the #### out of it.

On a personal note, I am connected with about 8 relatives or so in Alberta all of which are Conservative supporters. They've all made questionable, distasteful bigoted comments in mixed company as well as on Facebook. Racism, anti immigration, sexism, homophobia. It's all there. Of course, they are from the same families so it makes sense that they might share the same ideas. The one that doesn't make sense to me is my father, who discriminates constantly on Facebook whilst being apart of a minority that has had to deal with heavy discrimination throughout time. They remind me very much of my wife's family down in the states, the republican side, who share similar views.

It was really the only thing to do.

It is a throw-way riding for the Conservatives anyway.

The people who support that candidate's opinion in other ridings are still probably voting for the CPC anyway, but by keeping that candidate, the more liberal CPC supporter would be more likely to jump ship.

I wonder if they would have turfed him if it was a riding that the CPC was guaranteed to win. I mean, they kept Rob Anders for how long...

Who cares? Political parties play musical chairs making buffoon gaffes. No one remembers who's turn it was 1-2 rounds ago, but right now the CPC is the goat and it's time to call them out on it. And rightfully so.
