Didn't the devils draft Marty's son? What if he actually pans out and ends up playing for the devils at some point, can he wear Marty's number since it'll have the same name on it?

They drafted him, but didn't sign him so he is an UFA.

This is borderline. There should be some way to honour him with a banner without retiring the jersey.

Yeah no kidding. Maybe just plant a tree in his name, and be done with it.
What's this guy done anyway?

Interesting the game is against Edmonton. The Devils can finally get their revenge against Gretzky by retiring the number of their three time Stanley Cup winning hall of fame goalie while playing the NHL's new Mickey Mouse Organisation.

Brodeur is a three time Stanley Cup winning, future Hall of Fame goalie. Not two.

Brodeur worthy of a retired number.
Water is wet.

4x Vezina Trophy
5x Jennings Trophy
Calder Trophy
3x Stanley Cup
2x Olympic Gold Medal
10x NHL All Star
Numerous NHL records
It's no surprise. Only thing I can say is I'm glad they didn't wait several years before retiring the number, and are just doing it right away.
