Flames Flames assign Granlund to Stockton

Calgary Flames @NHLFlames
The #Flames have assigned Markus Granlund to the @AHLHeat ~ cflam.es/1MUkOAS Calgary has 26 players remaining at camp.

May be a "paper" transaction until they can officially put some players on LTIR

Welp, looks like they're waiving Byron just to get it out of the way, and keep him up on the main roster?

aaaand just like that jubilation turns to sorrow.
So it looks like Raymond & Byron, if they clear, will stay with the team.

There goes the "Granlund must have earned a spot then!" claims.

He probably won't even go to Stockton. This'll just be a paper transaction.

Granlund goes down, is recalled at noon on October 7, when Colborne goes on LTIR.
Treliving is just giving himself as much flexibility as possible when it comes to roster moves

Or there's the possibility that Raymond won't be demoted immediately after he clears waivers. He might be given a brief chance, to see if being waived lit a fire under his ass. If he sucks, they'll demote him and recall Granlund then.

Grandlund must play, regardless of what's going on with Raymond and others. If he's not on Hartley's 12 playing forwards list for Wednesday, or at the very least isn't likely to suit up in the next few games, they should have him playing in Stockton, even if he technically earned the 13th forward spot. He's spent enough time with big club over the past couple of seasons that I doubt he's getting much anymore from being around the team, he just needs to keep playing.

So with Raymond, Byron and Granlund being sent down, and Smid, Brodie and Colborne being placed on IR. Does this mean we still need to make 1 more cut? Or is the roster set?

Very unlikely that all 3 get sent down

Sorry if my question wasn't clear. If those 3 are sent down and those 3 are placed on IR, do we still have too many players with the Flames and need to cut 1 more?

No the Flames would be under the 23 man roster limit
