The Flyers are a bit of an Enigma. You know they have the talent and you feel that they can be so much better than they actually are. For some reason they just find a way to under perform.

Just to follow up on what I was saying previously, Shayne Gostisbehere had another goal tonight against the Islanders. It was an absolute rocket on the PP, and played about 18 minutes of solid hockey.
All you poolies looking for a rookie defenseman (if your pool needs that), check this kid out.

Doing some digging and I found some interesting tidbits.
Noah Hanifin is still with Carolina. But they've cut Roland McKeown and sent him back to the minors. Plenty of CP wanted the Flames to draft before they took McDonald I believe.
According to this article( http://arizonasports.com/story/37681...t-possibility/) it seems the likes of Strome, Domi and Duclair all have a good chance at cracking the Coyotes roster, which isn't that surprising given how poor their roster is.
Marner seems to be heading back down to the minors: http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/nhl/...rner-1.3242435
Zacha being given first line time in pre-season to crack the Devils roster: http://www.nj.com/devils/index.ssf/2...irst_line.html
Werenski is playing another season in College: http://bluejacketsxtra.dispatch.com/...s-feature.html
Timo Meier is already back in the minors: http://thechronicleherald.ca/moosehe...-role-ducharme
And rounding out the top 10, Rantenen is still with the Avs as far as I can tell.
So, a good chance that a number of the 10 draft picks will make their teams this season. McDavid and Eichel are clearly locks. Only Werenski, Meier and Marner are either back in juniors/college or look likely to do so.
In more Flames related news, Zach Senyshyn(selected with the 15th pick we gave to Boston) has been returned to his junior club. But Zboril and DeBrusk continue to practice with their main group.

Since Werenski is at camp does that mean he can't go back to NCAA?

I believe NCAA players can go to camp as long as they pay their own way and don't accept any equipment etc.
But I'm not 100% on that.

Where are you seeing that he's at camp?
He wasn't on the Jackets' Training Camp roster: http://bluejackets.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=779260

It appears Daniel Sprong has made the Penguins opening day roster as they have cut their roster to 23. If he gets more than the 9 game "try out" we will see.

Sprong got the best situation possible IMO. His ego and his fathers will get stymied right quick when the best player in the game is mentoring you and the team you play on. Good for him to get rolling like that. He's been really impressive. The talent was never a doubt, IIRC, it was scouted as top ten. It was the between the ears thing along with the meddling hockey dad that caused him to drop so far.

When a guy like Sprong can make a team like the Penguins, I'm pretty sure there was always a chance for Strome to make the crappiest team in the league.

That's the point though. What incentive of there to put Strome through a difficult listing season when he could grow confidence in minors? Pittsburgh is keeping Sprong because he might be able to help them.
A chasm of difference. Before camp opened Maloney pretty much said he wasn't making the team because there was no need for it.

I guess it isn't news that the Coyotes are going for first overall at the draft.

So close, yet so far it seems for Zacha. http://www.nj.com/devils/index.ssf/2...rt_more_sports
Obviously no shame in it, but man thats got to sting, being the last player cut from a training camp roster, so close to the season starting.
Rantenen looks like he might make the Avs roster. Is that a sign of how weak their bottom 6 is, or has he seemingly done really well in camp?
So, out of the top 10, 4 have made their teams. McDavid(1st), Eichel(2nd), Hanifin(5th) and Rantenen(10th).
Interesting situation with 11th pick Lawson Crouse. He is suspended by the OHL for 8 games, which means he wouldn't be able to play for Kingston until the 17th Oct. Few on social media reckon this means he'll likely get the 9 games in Florida.

Has a gander at how the top 10 from 2014 were getting on. It seems Sam Reinhart is having trouble making the Sabres: http://www.buffalohockeybeat.com/sam...es-as-scratch/ Looks like the odd man out. Not sure what to make of that. I know they've picked up a fair bit of talent with O'Reilly, Kane and Eichel all joining, but would you expect Reinhart to be more of a lock by now? Bennett seems to have a fair bit of a headstart on Reinhart and it does look like we might have picked up the best forward in that draft.
Draisaitl, Bennett, Ekblad and Virtanen are all on their teams rosters now obviously.
Dal Colle and Haydn Fluery have been sent back to the minors. Nylander is with the Marlies. Ritchie will likely be cut from the Ducks. So, 4 of the top 10 in the 2015 draft and 4 out of the 2014 draft are with their teams by my count.

All of the Reinhart kids looked like can't miss prospects at some point or another, but they've all struggled to stick in the NHL. Not sure why, but it does seem interesting to me. It just goes to show that you always need an x-factor to push you over the top into an NHL regular job. Just so much competition these days due to plenty of talent from around the world.
