He's pretty overpaid at $4m a year, wonder if he passes through.

Unconditional waivers for a buyout? Or are they just hoping he gets picked up?

Buyout window is closed.
Doubt anyone claims him with that anchor of a contract.
Hawks will get under a milion in cap space by sending him down

Was rumors of Nikitin for Bickel recently, wonder if the Coilers claim him now for free... Nikitin looked pretty bad last night, they may have to bury him, you know now that they have an 'abundance' of depth Defencemen and all...

I feel like it would be smarter to retain salary and trade him. He's got value at the right price.

They wanted to trade Nikitin's bad contract in exchange for another bad contract. Why would they take that salary on for free?

It's also a possibility #Blackhawks could put Bryan Bickell on long-term injury list with the vertigo symptoms. Many things in play here.

If we can't trade Hiller, can we do this instead? Seems a bit shady to me.

Shady perhaps, but if this is allowed I think we go with something like this...
It's also a possibility #Flames could put Mason Raymond on long-term injury list with the "horrible hockey sense symptoms" - Is that a thing?

Maybe there's a non-compete clause the Flames can use for Raymond. That IS a thing.

The idea of a non-compete clause is to prevent somebody from competing against you. At this point, I don't think we have to worry about Raymond actually competing for anything. He needs a non-compete clause like a brick needs brakes.

Maybe Buffalo? They've got the cap space and could probably use another experienced forward.

Yeah, 'non-compete' is sort of his stock-in-trade.

Yes, I know. Non-obvious joke was non-obvious, I guess.
