Some might argue but a visor makes a difference.

Yeah it's really not a fair fight. It's dumb that the NHL has the mandatory visor for new players rule AND the no helmets off before a fight rule. Something has to change as more and more young tough guys step into the league.

I think that's why Bollig ended up just going for the takedown rather than deal with the visor.

Not so sure. When I typed that I thought about Datsyuk as they are both pretty close. Kane has a more lethal shot which makes me lean to him.

Have you heard this from anyone other than a blindly homerish Jets fan?

Petan is talented. But he has never shown the kind of talent Gaudreau has. I have seen a lot of Petan in junior (played with a family friend). He has offensive skills - the kind of offensive skills that each team has only one or two prospects with.

But Gaudreau showed - consistently - that he has special skills, Kane-like skills. And he kept showing it. His NHLe in his 3rd year of college at 20 (Petan's current age) was 67.

What has Petan done to make a comparison with Gaudreau valid? (other than also being small)

For those who are uninterested in doing the math, Petan's NHLe is 40. But moreover, it needs to be pointed out how few players actually end up meeting or exceeding this number, and it just goes to further demonstrate how truly special Gaudreau is. It helped a great deal that he was arguably one of the best wingers on the team already coming out of camp last season, but it is a very different story for Petan, who is not going to supplant any of Wheeler, Scheifele, or Ladd on the top line.

Yeah Kane has a better shot for sure, but puck handling Datsyuk is king. He dribbles the puck around like a soccer ball and plays with the defenders sometimes, shoot it between their feet off the boards spin around do it again for fun kind of thing.

Datsyuk is more "IDGAF" than Kane when it comes to trying things with his hands. He almost makes Kane look mechanical.
