Sven with a 4th assist I think tonight. Nice goal by Horvat.

I would feel bad for Talbot for having that crappy D in front of him but he is an Oiler so it is awesome.

ya most of the team looked bad. I thought ferland/bennet were the only guys capable of trying to create anything. That play ferland made on the flames lone goal was awesome.

I understand giving raymond plenty of time but playing the point on the PP seemed a bit laughable.

I also don't understand what people see in shore. Has he done anything noticable in his time playing with the big club as yet? I'd be fine having shore/raymond shipped to stockton, and wouldn't be bothered if they didn't make it there due to a team grabbing them.

i hope the colborne injury isn't serious.

I think tonight solidified Kulak being on the roster for the start of the season. The other open spot is probably down to Wotherspoon or Nakladal. I wouldn't be surprised if Wilson cost himself a contract tonight, but it still might be a good idea to sign him to the deal Potter had last year.

Yep I agree, Shore has never really shown much of anything in my opinion.

He wins faceoffs at least, but otherwise I don't see him doing enough things particularly well. He seems more like a temporary body who can survive out there, but I'm not sure he offers much even as a 4th liner on this team.

The words I've been waiting for...

"We can't fault Joni for the defeat. The Jets were the better team. They executed better than us." - Hartley on his goalie's performance

I'm not sure of Shore either. He had a nice play off the boards to get the puck back to Nakladal on the almost tip in by Granlund but then doesn't really stand out much. Has some good speed, though.

I'd add Hathaway to the very short list of Flames who had a good game.

Works pretty hard out there, does some good things, then messes up when it matters most.
I was at the game last year in Vancouver for his own goal.

Yeah, exact same sentiments as you. I try to appreciate what he does bring to the team but it's clear he has no spot left on this roster.

I don't know if you can waive him without completely destroying his value, but I can't imagine there are many/any teams out there picking up their phone to call Calgary about Raymond.

I would waive him and then buy him out next offseason.

I did not get to see the game today, but from what I have heard, Nic Petan may be this years version of Johnny Gaudreau.

I think is Shore didn't have to clear waivers, he'd be a great player to slot in when you have an injury... but I don't think he's a full-time NHLer at this point.

I'd be OK with potentially losing him on waivers or trading him for anything at this point.

Not sure I see it. The guy I notice with that kind of skill on the Jets is Ehlers. Not Petan. But the TSN announcers were high on him for sure.

Maybe but based on today's game, he's not.

I saw a lot of Raymond, and not for the better. Made a few decent plays but overall a complete meh. No skill, no size just speed. Why he played on the point for the PP no idea

I missed the whole 1st period. With that caveat, Wilson was clearly the weakest of the three - he doesn't have much of an offensive game, and defensively he was prone to losing his man on the cycle.

Kulak continues to show a Brodie-like skill set, skating and moving the puck well, and keeping in decent position defensively.

Nakladal is as advertised - he has limited offense, but very solid defensively. He's got good foot speed and agility, decent size, and surprisingly good defensive instincts despite this being his first year on small ice.

Of the three, I would give Nakladal an edge on cracking the top 6 to start the season, as I see a bigger need to add a shut down defenseman with size to the roster than a rover, (and I mean no disrespect with that term) so long as the shut down defenseman can skate well enough to play the Flames up tempo style.

Yup. Not sure Shore has much of a future here.

LOL you wish.

Petan will never put up 60+ points in a season and you can quote me on that.

We got a free preview in Calgary with Shaw on channel 351, it was the Jets regional TSN feed.
