Pretty much. The first half of this election they were almost an issue... now they're so common place that the process is proforma: Embarressing social media post revealed - candidate steps down - media reports candidate steps down - nobody cares the day after.
Eventually one of two things will happen, either parties will install social media history investigations into the nomination process and weed those people out or they'll become so common place that they'll no longer be newsworthy and we'll stop hearing about them.

Nenshi (or should I say Spendshi ) has some stuff to say to CPC:
‘This is disgusting and it is time for us to say stop it’: Calgary Mayor Naheed Nenshi blasts Tories’ niqab ban
Quote:
Calgary Mayor Naheed Nenshi lambasted the Conservative government for taking issue with women wearing the niqab during citizenship ceremonies, arguing it’s “playing with fire” and wasting taxpayers’ money.
[...]He also said the Conservatives were spending millions of dollars of “your and my money” on what is basically an un-winnable appeal.
“If you’re doing it so you can gain a few points somewhere in rural Quebec, well, I expect more from my leadership than that.”
[...]The interview, first covered by National Newswatch, wasn’t limited to the niqab issue. Solomon and Nenshi also discussed city issues in the federal election and the Syrian refugee crisis. Nenshi was dismayed over the Conservatives’ early focus on security concerns, calling it “dog whistle politics.”

Edit: I should also add
Quote:
The mayor also noted that the citizenship ceremony is ceremonial and that women unveil themselves and provide identification separately.

People won't like those comments but one of the reasons I like Nenshi is he is not afraid to speak his mind. I can't disagree with him, he raises some good points. This tactic the Conservatives use is American-Style divide and conquer politics and frankly is a real turn off for me.

Awaiting the comments that Nenshi shouldn't stick his head in federal political affairs, our Mayor isn't supposed to do that.

I appreciated Andrew Coyne's article on the niqab debate - looking at the numbers, this may be the most irrelevant issue in the election.

This election has turned into a big vote buying farce. This is the tracker from the Sun. I didn't read them all and couldn't keep track of 10% of who said what.

This is where I feel the Liberals will gain a lot of votes. Not from unicorn promises and lollipop dreams, but from a well laid out plan to their spending.
EDIT: Upon looking at the shiny promises from each party in that Sun article that was posted, I feel like the Liberals plan looks better on paper than the other 3.

Why do some people in Calgary even so much as mildly dislike Mayor Nenshi? Is it just that he defeated Dr. No?
Maybe it's just because I live in Toronto where the people here toss the worst scum they can find into City Hall, but I am completely bewildered by Nenshi hate.

To me it is because Nenshi has hollier than thou habit of calling out other politicians like he can always do a better job than they could. A quick google on "Nanshi blast", I found he blasted:
AB government for rejecting Snowtember relief
Ban on Niqab
Immigration minister on Syrian refugee crisis
Prentic over early election
Only the first one relates to city politics and the rest is just his own opinion. He has the right to express them but other people have the right to judge his behavior as well.

Because I remember what he was like pre-political life when he was teaching at MRU and writing articles for the Herald.

But now I'm ranting.
