Voted today. They would not let my 2 year-old vote. Fascists.

That's the cons limiting the youth vote because it leans left.

I looked it up because I haven't followed the green policies closely enough.

Which part is terrifying?
It seems pretty par for the course green policy.
Generally it's hard not to think all of the philosophical points good but near impossible to implement. Wouldn't it be great if we all had anti-biotic free, pesticide free, 200K diets. But there are good reasons it's hard to reach these goals.
Also good on the Greens for not attacking GMO specifically. The certified organic thing does indirectly go after GMOs right now. But I think eventually real science will reverse that.

Yeah, and most of the science behind reducing the use of antibiotics makes sense, in much the same way we tell people to stop getting antibiotics for minor stuff like colds.

How braindead are people? If you plan on submitting your name in an election, just go and delete all your posts on all social media, its not that hard.
And do it before you know you're running, as I can imagine in the future someone will make a business of identifying potential candidates and archiving their posts for release during the campaign.

You would think that would all be done during the vetting process

I think there are actually services available that can wipe stuff for you too.
I am not sure how well you can vet over 300 people. A lot of internet stuff gets buried and will probably be really hard to find unless you know what you are looking for. I am sure the Liberals interviewed her and did some background checks.
Glad she was exposed. We don't need people like her.

Not so easy to do, if the post was cached by one of the web crawlers its much harder to get rid of.

Are these people getting caught by old tweets and posts they left up or by those web crawlers cached website tools? Are those things even able to get into a social media account with friend request privacy settings?

I'd also like to know this. I can't even find 90% of my own tweets/Facebook posts, let alone someone else's.

I think if you're looking into deleted posts and web archives to get dirt on your opponent, you'd be trying too hard. It might even get some backlash from privacy advocates.

Social media scandals will (are) becoming commonplace. I bet this is a regular thing for every election going forward. Reality of life now.

From the Twitter Help Center, for aspiring politicians:
"What happens to Tweets I delete? - When you delete a Tweet, it is removed from your account, the timeline of any accounts you follow, and also Twitter search results.
- Retweets of the deleted Tweet will also be deleted.
- If other users have quoted your Tweet (i.e. copied and pasted part or all of your text into their own Tweet) their Tweets will not be removed.
- If other users have Retweeted your Tweet with a comment of their own, their Tweets will not be removed.
- Tweets may be cached or cross-posted on third-party websites, applications, or search engines. We cannot remove Tweets that are not on Twitter."

Not to mention that antibiotics do nothing for colds.

Well that's my point, and the risk of creating "superbugs" from the overuse of antibiotics has become very worrying for microbiologists.
