Absolutely. And Shore can't be sent down if he plays a game. Likely Grandlund over Shore. Although I think they will both be sent down.

I have to agree. Shore just looks clumsy most of the time. He has moments of nice play, but they're too few and far between.
Granlund lacks some elements to his game that Shore has, but Granlund has been the better overall player in my mind.

Shore can be sent down any time. He just needs to clear waivers first, regardless of whether he plays a regular season game or not. Granlund (one d, not two) is waiver exempt, so it's all but guaranteed he starts the season in Stockton.

IMO, the only two things are face-off ability and size. Otherwise, I think Granlund has a greater ability to be offensively successful in the NHL. He's just too slick with the puck and has too good of a release. Shore hasn't shown that.

Granlund's hands are just too good. If we ever move him to wing full time, he could be an Eberle type.
As for Shore, I feel like 4th line center is the worst situation for him. I want to see him in a top 9 winger role.

Absolutely. Heck, even one of those attributes would probably be enough to force a roster spot for him. If he was 2-3" taller and 20-25 pounds heavier, he'd be an every day player already.

Although I don't necessarily disagree with you, I hope that's not how we make our decisions. Waiver status shouldn't impact whether a player makes the team if they played well enough to be there.

Yep. He can be sent down and recalled without clearing waivers until the end of next season or until he plays 60 NHL games, whichever comes first.

Are you sure about that? I believe he's played too many NHL games to be waiver exempt. The same reason Ferland would have to go through waivers.

I dunno, Shore was so slick down low he deked himself out.

Happy to hear Granlund is playing well. For the poster who thinks its a foregone conclusion he starts the year in Stockton, I respectfully disagree. Arguably he has had a better camp than Bennett. Not to mention many others.
Hoping Glencross makes the Avs.

@ToriePeterson: #Flames dominant in the face-off circle (71%) - Backlund has won all 6 of his draws, Shore has won 5 of his 6. #CGYvsCOL

That was last year. He played that game plus a couple of extra last season so he is waiver eligible since just before the playoffs last year.

It might inform things temporarily. It did last year when Jooris made the team but had to wait until the Flames exhausted all possibilities with Setoguchi before finally waiving Setoguchi to make room for Jooris.
