Pretty good, except I've never seen Colborne play LW. Jooris has, as has Granlund. So I'd put Colborne on Bennett's line at RW and one of Jooris or Granlund on Backlund's left (Granlund is a bit better defensively and Jooris is faster).
If I was betting I'd say Wilson plays and Kulak is demoted, but that's not what I want.
Sitting in the press box is Jooris/Granlund, Shore and Nakladl for me. Bollig is waived. But I suspect Bollig will be kept and something will give with Shore.

#Flames lines this AM: Gaudreau-Monahan-Hudler; Bennett-Backlund-Frolik; Ferland-Jooris-Byron; Bouma-Stajan-Jones.
Nakladal and Backlund were back on the ice this morning and ready to go.

Unlikely, IMO.
Still mare than a week of camp - why would one come to that conclusion?

Looks about the 12 best players to me. So it might not be the opening roster but it's close.

Yup.
And Treliving clearly said that they are starting Bennett at C. He won't be playing LW.
I'm willing to bet he'll be playing second line C, while Backlund will be the third line C. Bennett will be on a scoring line, not a shut down line. Backlund is a shut down C just like Stajan on the fourth line. Our top two C's are Monahan and Bennett going into this season.

I don't like the idea of putting Bennett on the third line. I think he needs to be put in a position to put up numbers so that he can build some confidence early. Maybe if Ferland can maintain this offensive streak he has had lately, but lets not forget he had 1 goal all of last season and Jooris cooled down significantly after he moved away from Johnny. If they play like that then that could really hurt Bennett's confidence and development imo.

That's too fixated on labels. Whatever it's called, Bennett's line would be a scoring line and Backlund's would be a checking line. Hartley will allocate the time accordingly.
And remember where Johnny started last year, and Monahan the year before.

I was reading a Darren Haynes article where he had Colborne on the fence for making the team. I thought he would be a lock over some of the other guys.
Also t does appear that Sam Bennett to start on the wing could be happening as there has been mention of it in a recent Duhatchek article and in practice today.

I think Colborne is a lock this year, but he does need to produce more going forward. "Potential" will only get you so far. I really like the guy, but it seems like he might be hitting the ceiling of a decent 3/4 liner (10-15 goals). Perhaps it has been injuries keeping him down, but I expect that Hartley will demand more from him in the upcoming year.

Anyone speculating on regular season based on a practice in training camp should just wait it out. Bennett will most likely still be at centre, as all of the preseason games have indicated

I could see there being a three way battle between Colborne, Jones and Shore for two spots on the right side.

It was wondered aloud a few times on twitter. And I also put a question mark in there, it's not like I was declaring it was set in stone. Sheesh.

I'd prefer that Bennett is put in a position to learn how to play NHL centre -- doing that against lesser competition to start is the best way IMO (see Monahan, Sean). And Bennett has enough skill/offence that the points will come, especially if he gets PP time. Maybe not McSavior points, but that's not what we need from him this year.
And by all accounts, confidence is not an issue for #93.

I've been very impressed with Colborne's possession game. He shields and cycles the puck well without coughing it up. I'd approve of having him on the second line cause the line would probably have the puck more with him on it.

Doesn't look like much of a battle to me. Colborne isn't always as effective as we'd like, but his decision making is NHL level and he doesn't often have stupid defensive lapses. I don't think we'll get that much more out of him than what we've seen so far despite this supposed increased speed and strength, but I don't have an issue with that as I think we've seen a legit lower-line NHL player.

just swap Colborne and Frolik then as Frolik has played considerable time on the left side in his NHL career.

Sounds like Granlund has had a hell of a camp. It is going to be make or break with him sooner than later.

I feel like they need to make room for Granlund now. Too bad he is one of the few left that can go to the farm waiverless.
