Completely agree. But right now, today, Reinhart is well ahead of him. Also, I had to throw Oiler fans a bone or two to keep their attention.
To be honest, IMO, Hickey is our best defensive prospect. And I am not at all a Reinhart fan. - his foot speed will severely limit his upside.
But I am happy with Oiler fans thinking that Reinhart >> Hickey

In fairness though, they have McDavid and we don't.

I think Kanzig should be listed for us before Rafikov since we don't know when or if he will ever come to North America.

Doesn't hurt it either. It's not like it's difficult to be better than Dillon Simpson

These the opening day lines?
Aaron Vickers @AAVickers
#Flames lines this AM: Gaudreau-Monahan-Hudler; Bennett-Backlund-Frolik; Ferland-Jooris-Byron; Bouma-Stajan-Jones.
Nakladal and Backlund were back on the ice this morning and ready to go.

Ramo and Hiller will split time in net tomorrow. Ortio plays Thursday in Winnipeg. #Flames

Hartley said he doesn't like playing young players out of position. Wonder why he changed his mind on Bennett? No other viable options on the 2 LW spot maybe.

I think Backlund can handle third line centre, which bumps Jooris (either to the wuing to the bench). I also doubt Colborne is not a starter over Byron. He looked good in Vancouver. And in Colorado I hear.

Hartley cautioned the lines this morning isn't the game group for tomorrow. #Flames

I would guess, Flames have not decided if Bennett will start the season as a Center or a Left Winger.

@Fan960Wills: Ladislav Smid is on the ice for #Flames second practice. He is not wearing a no-contact jersey.

So the odd men out are looking like:
Bollig
Raymond
Colborne
Granlund
Shore
(and the rest of the guys who haven't been cut yet like Blair Riley Garnet Hathaway)
Not really surprised.

Minus the fact that it puts Bennett at LW, those lines might be the best possible combination of 12 we could ice as it stands right now. Is it just me or our 4th line is our highest-paid line

Yeah, Colborne is the one that stuck out to me. He has to be there somewhere.
I still think there's some tinkering going on. Just seemed interesting to read that those line combos were together today. Must be somewhat close to what Hartley wants to start the season with.

Byron's been hurt, so needs more practice time. Ditto backlund (not that he isn't a starter).
Out of
Byron
Bollig
Raymond
Colborne
Granlund
Shore
I figure three can stay up. One is waiver exempt (Granlund). He deserves to stay (and I'm not a huge fan) but that alone may seal his fate. One can be waived without any fear (Raymond) so that might seal his fate.
I think Bollig stays because Hartley wants access to a fighter. I think Colborne stays because he's more or less established. So it's Byron v. Shore. Hartley likes Byron and hasn't seemed to play Sore much. But Shore is a bit more versatile IMO. Byron is more likely to pass waivers IMO.

That's preposterous! How do you sit one of this team's pure snipers???? Wait, it was against Vancouver...ya, Bollig is fine on the bench.

Here's what I would like to see:
Gaudreau - Monahan - Hudler
Colborne - Backlund - Frolik
Ferland - Bennett - Jooris
Bouma - Stajan - Jones
Giordano - Hamilton
Russell - Wideman
Kulak - Engelland/Smid
Ortio
Hiller

I'd also be fine with signing Wilson to a 1 year deal and playing him with Kulak on the 3rd pairing. I really really cringe with having Smid or Engelland playing on the team. It just seemed like every time they were on the ice last year it was a fire drill we repeated icings resulting in a goal, or somehow managing to chip it off the glass and get a line change.
And when Brodie gets back, play him with Kulak and collect profit.
