Leafs' prospect Viktor Lööv: "There is a lot of cocaine in the NHL"
Quote:
He also got to see that all is not gold and glamor in professional hockey. Among other things, he has been surprised by how some players manage their training and their living off the ice.
"I have not gone out so much fun over there. But some players, the bends at any time. It could be the day before the match, it does not matter," says Victor, who also says that there are drugs among some players in the NHL. "There is a lot of cocaine in the NHL. There is certainly in the AHL too but I have not seen anything, no team mate what I know."
|
Quote:
"You do not want it to everyone talking about it. It belongs's not sporting to keep up with that stuff. But it does not feel like the NHL is really taking it seriously, that they do not do much about it. In the club we talk about doping, but not about drugs and stuff. They run the doping tests, I have well tested three times last season. One of the team went there and was suspended 20 games," says Viktor Lööv and refers to the forward Brad Ross, an incident from January.

Well yea! Who doesn't skate faster on a little blow?! Duh..
I've always wondered if Bettman does blow. I have no evidence of such, he just seems like a bit of a high paid tweaker.

This is no surprise. I have friends that have been to parties that NHL players attended during regular season. They said the same thing.

My cousin played with several of the kids coming up in the NHL system (with the AHL team right now) and a few of them were at a party this summer at our cabin. The stories they have about several of the pros in the NHL and the amount of Marijuana they consume is quite shocking.

Yeah, shouldn't really be a shocker at all. Yay is no longer the hush hush drug it used to be. Pretty common stuff for people to do now when out for a night and alcohol is involved.

For all you squares out there: cocaine is ####ing everywhere. It's not my slice of tea, but it is everywhere: trades, academics, club kids, professionals, it pops up in every class of people you can think of. The hangover is relatively mild, the high is short and it doesn't make you fat or dumb, the only real downside is that it is horrifically addictive and expensive. It really is the drug of choice for young, rich go-getters. It's a great way to get laid too, lots of hot coke-heads out there.
Alberta is in the middle of a coke frenzy.

Lol, are people really calling other people squares because they think abusing an illegal drug in a professional league is a bad thing?

Yeah, it's everywhere. Human beings in general are always searching for "highs". The more money in a circle, the harder the drugs.
But there are many downsides to cocaine abuse besides being addictive and expensive. Besides the increased risk of heart attack, from my experience it can really negatively affect people's personalities and family life. It makes them overly aggressive, irritable, and narcissistic when not used in moderation. I have seen relationships destroyed because of it.

People often think that coke is a drug that exists outside of their world, or that it's only done by people who exist on the fringes of our society, but it is a huge part of our society and culture and permeates into everything.
I just like the word 'squares', I think it's inherently funny. But I realize nobody likes being called a square, especially squares.

I can count on one hand the people I know who consume cocaine on a regular basis and I think i'm "pretty worldly".
I have never done coke, and I doubt I ever will. And I think if you regularly consume it, you are a moron.
