Backlund had very limited ice time in the Edmonton game

After the top line of forwards ... it looks very weak.

Based on that sheet, they are dressing 9 NHL calibre forwards:

Gaudreau/Monahan/Hudler
Bouma/Shore/Ferland
Byron/Granlund/Frolik

Plus guys like Arnold and arguably Hathaway who are close, and Klimchuk, who is a high pick.

And they are dressing almost a standard defence corps.

3 games in 3 nights, two away sandwiching a home game, so everyone will play. Why not give the home town the best line up?

Top 3 forwards and top 4 defense is enough to look loopsided.

This definitely makes the most sense.

Really, the only guy missing who I'd have really liked to have seen is Bennett.

Of the regulars, Colborne, Jooris, Stajan, Bollig, Raymond played last night. Backlund sounds like he has a little injury.

You know Ferland and Dorset are going to go when they get the chance. Probably better to have it done with in the pre-season rather than losing Ferland for 5 minutes in a regular season game.

Canucks are going to try and flex their muscle and show the Flames that they aren't scared or intimidated like they were last year. This could be a rough game.

Going to the game first Done trip of the year. Stoked to see Dougie but wish Bennett was playing. Figured he would rest after playing last night

Rumour saith he plans to fight three this time, and work up from there. If the Flames and Canucks meet in the playoffs again this year, Engelland will go out and fight a line brawl all by himself, 1 on 5.

P.S. Markstrom actually wears #25? Lame.
Are they actually playing 3 on 3 OT tonight regardless of the score to give both teams a taste of it, or is it just your prediction that this game will go into OT? Genuinely curious.

I don't know if the canucks would put up that much of a fight. The only one resembling the canucks in that clip was the *cat in the tree.

Byron's first game, right?

A buddy of mine grew up with Byron and apparently he's been getting chirped a lot by his friends for his inability to score on breakaways. Hopefully that's extra motivation for him to bury a few chances this season!

Pedan is a tough customer. KD a few people, and took a loss last last year.
