Meh, I don't want Ovechkin because then Ferland and Colborne get less of a shot in the top 6. Also he's Russian.

Andersson in an interesting group. Outside Spoon, isn't that D basically fighting for the 6-7 spot?

Wish we could see more Kylington. I like what I've been hearing from him.

There's 5 more games of preseason action after the Avs game. We're going to see a lot more of players before the final cuts.

Picks to make it to the final cuts: Andersson, Wilson, Nakladal, Arnold, Gillies, Wotherspoon, Agostino, Kylington and Granlund. Not sure if I am missing any other stand outs. Because Poirier was the best shot to steal a job and he's not looking too promising for this year.

Think they are keeping him for the home town fans on Friday.

Had a good showing in game 1, and some hype surrounding him.

Looks like most of the NHL d-men will be in Calgary for that game too, so potentially some time with Gio or Hamilton as well.

Trade popped into my mind - if they don't see a place for him on the team this year and figure he's NHL ready, they might try and move him.

Minor injury makes more sense though.

Wouldn't they be telling us about an injury though?

Maybe not if it's a maintenance type. Enough to keep him out but not a big deal. Has any reporter even asked?

I hope it's not a trade. I like Arnold and want to see more of what he's about in a Flames sweater.

Does anyone know if these games will be streamed on the Flames or Avs website?

Even if they say they will, it will be like they aren't streaming it at all.

The Flames don't stream content, they trickle it.

If they were going to move Hiller I think it would have happened already, there just arnt many teams that would be interested. I like Ortio but I think he will either get traded or waived like Markstrom did, at least we would still have Gillies and Mac in the system which is nice. I dont think the team is too worried about losing Ortio either or they wouldnt have signed Ramo.

I don't think Treliving is going to lose Ortio for nothing. That would be his first terrible move.

Gonna be honest, I doubt Hiller will bring much more than he did last season. He's not at an age where he's going to change. Yes he was solid at times, but very streaky. Either decent, where he'd keep it to 2 goals or less allowed for a stretch of games, or he'd go on a stretch where he was leaky, letting in every odd goal from low percentage angles/spots. He didn't steal any Ws either, save for in the first couple weeks of the season. Thing is, you could always count on him letting in one stinker either early on, or late in the game, even if he was decent otherwise.

IF Ortio makes a case for himself - I mean shows starting tender level of play in his starts this preseason, you look to ship Hiller. He's a more attractive name anyways. Teams will look at what he did vs Vancouver and much of last season and see him as an attractive backup/1b if the need is there.

They would want to see Ortio actually take the job first, before they go and trade Hiller.

As for Ramo, they needed another goalie, and they weren't just going to hand it to Ortio.

Maybe there's a trade, and maybe there isn't. But it sure as heck wouldn't have happened already.

I dont have anything to back it up but I read in another Hiller thread that BT was trying to move him at both the deadline and the draft.

I think the majority of teams are happy with there position in net and wouldnt be looking to add a goalie unless someone gets injured, which is why we were able to resign Ramo because the wasnt any other suitors.
