If you're not stopping in the middle of the hallway do you stop on the side?

Difference being in this example that if I stepped to the side, I wouldn't go stand in front of Jim's locker if I knew Jim was walking to his locker, and force an awkward reach around.
Yes I'm aware how that sounds.

I have a dude in front of my place that has a truck and trailer landed there currently. Three days so far.. I'm sure lots of us are waiting to scoop it up like vultures. Hope it's temporary!

Had a car parked in front of my place for 9 months. They towed it across the street for street sweeping. Now someone else has to deal with this db. Tags run out at the end of September.

You only have to wait 3 days, if it didn't move it can be towed.

Well, is anyone really surprised he doesn't want to walk an extra twenty feet?

It's kind of annoying if you live there. But when I lived in a laned home I found it more annoying that guests could not park anywhere on the street, while you drove down the alley and saw that every house had an empty parking pad or garage in the back.

Hmm, that's not what they told me when I phoned the cops. They said I had to wait til the tags run out.

Was discussed in another thread, despite what the bylaw says if it's registered, insured, operable and legally parked the city won't touch it.
And reasonably so, go to Mexico for a week and come back to have your car towed because you were out of the country? That would be pretty crappy.

I don't feel too strongly about the subject. The fellow in the picture looks pretty unique.

My neighbour lives on a corner lot, has 2 vehicles. Big wide streets, and quite a bit of street parking. They also have a 2 car garage filled with junk. They don't park in front of their house, so it's empty on front of their home on one side, and on the other side (my side) they park 2 cars there, often in front of my house.
It makes me want to park my vehicle on their front lawn.
Problem is they are like the nicest people, and I'm far too much of a bitch to ever say anything.

This was in Whitehorn, tons of space in front of the houses. Our neighbour got pissy because he was parking beside their house. There's definitely one plus to living on an acreage. Neighbours suck.

Kind of irrelevant to bring up a wacko that had a problem with his side street not being fully vacant at all times. We're discussing people with actual parking problems. Lack of parking, neighbours that are dinks, people that take up more space than necessary...

I always find it strange that people don't park their car, or a car, in their garage. Doesn't having a garage make winter easier to deal with having a vehicle?

It's exactly the same thing. They got pissy about someone parking there because they felt entitled to the spot. It's a public road, it doesn't belong to the homeowner.

We have a neighbor across the street that always gives our guests a hard time if they go to park there.

Really? You can't see the difference between some J/O in Whitehorn with tons of space and another neighbourhood where parking is an issue?
I'll let you in on a little secret. There are tons of neighbourhoods where there is not enough parking. What little parking there is is often ruined by idiots that take up two spaces when they only need one. It is irrelevant who owns the space. Nobody owns it. We all own it. Don't take more than you need. And when possible, don't be a dink and park in front of your neighbour's house, when you've got space in front of your own. It's like a parking lot. Sure, I COULD take four spaces, but I only need one. People that take 2 or 3 or 4 are DBs. Pretty simple concept here. Can't believe we're disagreeing.

IMO demanding the ideal spot be open for you at all times - despite it being public property - is equally DBish.
It's all about reasonable management of shared space. People who put up threatening signs are not helping.
I live near aa "trendy" neighborhood, with all sorts of visitors on the weekend... At least you guys don't have to deal with multiple hit and runs a year. I don't even bother to fix my back bumper cover anymore.

I see similar signs in Elbow Park all the time; maybe a bit more cogent be even more dbish. One said, This is our community, if you don't live here don't park here. One guy had pylons out on the road saving his spot.
On the other hand, it looks like this guy has plenty of front lawn to park on.
