Don't park in front of my uckin house!
Quote:
Tired of coming home to find all the parking spaces in front of your house already taken?
Southeast Calgary resident Justin Kern was, so he decided to put up a professionally printed and bluntly worded sign.
"If you don't live here, don't park in front of my ... house," read the original sign, minus one word that caught the attention of city bylaw officers.

Thoughts on this? While I don't particularly agree with him, and I would never put a sign up like that, I do get annoyed when this happens to me.
During the summer, a vehicle was parked continuously in "my spot" outside my house for a week and a half. Called the city and they just confirmed that it wasn't stolen and that it was likely just somebody visiting for Stampede so to leave it and it would eventually move. It did move a couple days later to a spot across the road. I got my spot back, but when I vacated it the next day, the vehicle was there again for 3-4 days without moving. Turns out it was a new neighbour who moved in, and for whatever reason, rarely drives her vehicle. Thankfully, she parks on her side now. I guess it was just a case of not knowing that it was somebody's regular spot (I had been out of town the week prior) and once she realized it was my spot, she stopped parking in it.
There two spots outside my house, one on my side, one on the neighbour's side. The absolute worst are the people who take up both spots by parking in the middle. It's always some big ass truck. That's infuriating.

It's not your spot, it's not your driveway and you have no territorial rights to it. If someone parks there for a day or 2 get over it.
In my previous house if I parked too far up the a-hole beside me would back the car up to my bumper. If you get riled up about this stuff and put out passive agressive signs, phone by-law or block in people you are a small minded LOSER in life.

To be honest, if I saw a sign like that, I wouldn't park there anymore. Not so much because I think he has more of a right to park there than me, but because I don't want him messing with my car or stabbing me in the eyeball with one of his piercings.

Street parking is first come first serve. This guy is a knob for trying to intimidate people from parking in front of his house.

After seeing his picture, there's no way I'll park anywhere in the south east, let alone by his house.

I can see what you're saying, assuming you're talking about the gloriously wide streets and lots of 80s Calgary developments, but if you're anywhere near a 90s+ or downtown area, then you are a complete dink for lazy parking.
Also, while people don't own the street in front of their house, it still seems neighbourly to park in front of your own house when possible. More specifically, it's pretty DB to park in front of your neighbour's house when you can park in front of yours.
As for parking too far up, don't you realize that in a certain amount of space, a certain amount of vehicles will fit? If you pull up too far, you're ruining an extra space. That's not your ex neighbour being an a-hole, that him telling you that you're an a-hole.

Exactly. This thread is the poster child of consideration. Anyone that just parks wherever they want, can you? Yes, of course. Should you? Well... maybe try and be a little considerate, otherwise expect to annoy people.
I just don't get why you would do it. I don't walk down a busy hallway and then plant myself in the middle of it forcing people to awkwardly squeeze around. Why? Because it's inconsiderate and annoying to others. End of story.

That tree has a cyclops eye. With rays of radiation coming out of the bottom. I think the tree made the sign and buddy is its crazy worshiper implementing the first phase of total street domination.

This was in a McStarter home. I would occasionally park slightly farther up when one of the other neighbours or their visitors were parked in front of my house (there was room for 1.8ish cars in front of my house). With that said, I recently encountered said neighbour 5+ years since moving and although I disliked her at the time I just felt sorry for her now.

It's not like they're parking in the middle of the street....they're parking on the side of the road.
If you're not stopping in the middle of the hallway do you stop on the side?

Lame, it's not your road, you're not entitled to the spot. I had a friend living in our basement for a couple months and he would park on the other side of the road from our house, which was a corner lot. We also had back lanes with detached garages. This was in Whitehorn, tons of space in front of the houses. Our neighbour got pissy because he was parking beside their house. They wouldn't even park there if the space was vacant, because they'd park in front of their house. Lame.
There's definitely one plus to living on an acreage. Neighbours suck.

I wonder if the sign said "Please don't park infront of my house" he would still get torn apart because of his appearance and harmless request. Probably yes
