Brodano, Hamilspoon, Kulakladal

This is a good opportunity for Spoon to show that he deserves to make the team.

I see their going with the same top line. I thought I remember reading an article that Hartley said he wanted to play Bennett with Hudler. Thought they were trying that in camp. Either I dreamt that or something changed.

Yeah I was hoping to see Gaudreau - Monahan - Ferland, Frolik - Bennett - Hudler as the top two lines from that team.

Cam Talbot has never allowed a goal at Rexall Place, and he's never been scored on by the Flames.

It's time to put an end to both of those things in a big way tonight.

Frolik has also earned a reputation for being able to "get guys going." That is a very fast line and could cause some serious headaches to the lumbering Oilers D.

Nah, I want Monahudreau to pick up where they left off last season!

Hopefully Ferklund remembers Nurse acting like he won the WWE World Heavy Weight Championship at the rookie camp.

Ya nothing against the line I was just under the impression they were trying Hudler and Bennett together in camp so was wondering why they wouldn't try it out in an exhibition game.

Yeah, it's less that I want Ferland with those two (although it does intrigue me) and more that I think Bennett can benefit from Hudler as Monahan did.

This is what I was thinking as well and it seemed like it was what Hartley was also thinking. That top line was deadly last year but having Monahan and Gaudreau learn to do it without Hudler is probably a good thing for them and Hudler teaching Bennett could be really beneficial as well. If you can create two scoring lines this team would look really solid.

Hartley also said that the player-pairing experiments would be conducted during camp practices and scrimmages. Training camp did not just start today.

As much as I look forward to seeing Hudler with Bennett—which is something that I think we will still see at some point this preseason—this does not surprise me in the least.

Smith went after him late in that game, but Nurse ran away. I wouldn't be surprised to see them have another face-to-face tonight.

The Hunter will become the hunter. Nurse will need to see a doctor.

Not to mention add some physicality to both groups with Ferland and Frolik.

Hate to be doubtful but are we positive that Ferland can take Nurse? He's got the one punch power but he takes a lot of hits in his fights.

I just want to see him inundated with relentless hits every time he touches the puck. He doesn't have to drop the mitts to kick his ass. Do it clean and without taking yourself out of the game. Make Nurse not want to touch that puck. Make all of their defense not want the puck.

If, due to a flu outbreak or something, this was our opening day lineup, I think I could live with this as an NHL roster. Except for Smith, he's easily the worst current player in the group.

Gaudreau - Monahan - Ferland
Frolik - Bennet t- Hudler
Bouma - Backlund - Jones
Colborne - Stajan - Bollig

Is how I see the opening fwd group. Raymond, Byron, Shore, Bollig, Granlund are going to be in a dog fight for that last spot. Raymond I'd like to see move on. I like Byron as a 13th guy, he can slot in almost anywhere, but his time might be up unless he can show why he's above younger guys with more size. That's not to mention door-knockers like Poirier, Agostino, Arnold (how come he's not here? Did he get cut already?), who could Josh Jooris someone out of a job.

I'd like to see Wotherspoon, Nakladal, or maybe even a guy like Andersson, Wilson, Morrison take over for Engelland. Perhaps an outside shot at Sieloff. I had high hopes for him initially, but he may have been just too derailed.

Not that I think Engelland is bad, just want to hope for better possibilities I guess.

that is exactly what I want to see. Just like someone else mentioned, he needs to Bieksa him, ala playoffs 2015. I am sure Ferland will be flying tonight, he kid loves to play and always seems to be engaged. Can't wait.
