Not only that: take a look at the god-awful defense lineups for both groups. Ference and Nikitin on the second pairing?? I knew the Oilers were an AHL level team on the blueline, but when all their players are split into two groups it is ridiculously bad.

If Nurse or Gadzic try anything stupid, home team has Ferland, Bollig, Kanzig, Smith.

Prepare to lose both games and the Oilers fans to declare their team is superior.

Like our chances in both games. Both Oilers teams fall off pretty hard and fast in terms of talent. When did they get Korpikoski?

I would expect most split squads to look pretty thin on defence. I mean, even with our incredible depth, we're still starting 6/7 defencemen or very young prospects who have never played in the NHL on our 2nd pairing.

I think the Oilers problem is the exact opposite of what you're saying. IMO, they have so many 4/5/6/7 defensemen, they can actually roll out some solid 2nd or 3rd pairing defensemen in split squad games. What's laughable to me is that you can't even tell what squad is better since they don't have any 1/2 defensemen that stand out.

Traded for that defensive centre the Oilers have always been looking for in Boyd Gordon

Even Staples didn't like the deal

http://edmontonjournal.com/sports/ho...traordinaireue

Edit: They ended up signing Letestu to replace Gordon

Be good to have someone appropriate punch Nurse's lights out.

Then just skate to the box.

Was hoping to see Eat Bread in Calgary, but otherwise it should be fun to see the squad mix it up with the no-goodniks.
