Hartley and Hudler are both good people from personal experience after meeting the pair today. Just another anecdote to add to the litany of other people's interactions with them

Positionally any good? Or is he still climatizing to the NA rink size?
Nothing noteworthy defensively either I assume then.

Considering he was touted to be a defensive defenceman, I'm not really alarmed that Nakladal was unnoticeable.

It got blocked three times in a row, although to be fair he was shooting it into a crowd for a tip. Not sure of the accuracy, because they did not reach the net, but they looked on target.
It wasn't as hard as Wideman's but it was closer to that than an average shot.

I always get excited about Kanzig and his speed. You don't really notice it in games as much, however. Many people just disregard him completely, but he seems to be a physical phenom. Not just his build, but how fast he can move at that size. Didn't he also win mountain climbing last year (or placed fairly high anyways?). Lowry always raved about him, and stated Kanzig was the fastest Royal.
Lateral movement needs work. First step could be better too for sure. Top speed? Ridiculous - but not that practical. Still shows that this kid is a pretty special athlete, however, and apparently his character is impressive. He is still a reach to make the NHL, but I think anyone is foolish to write him off. Wouldn't be surprised to see him in the NHL in 2-4 years.

He was steady in the game, still adjusting though.
It's hard because most of the guys are rusty still. Sloppy plays from mostly everyone from time to time.

I'm not concerned about Kanzig's mobility. To me whether he makes the NHL depends 95% on the development of his puck-skills. Two-three years from now the Engelland Archtype will be a relic of the past.

This Lomberg kid keeps making his name be noticed. I realize he is slated for Stockton this year but if he continues to progress, and given his work ethic, it will be interesting to see how his future pans out.

I think it is telling that Gaudreau was the only roster player to place top-three in the mountain-climber heats.
It tells us what we need to know about the difference between players and prospects fighting for their jobs.

After working with Monahan & Gaudreau, Jiri Hudler turns attention to Sam Bennett
http://www.calgarysun.com/2015/09/19...to-sam-bennett
Quote:
"I'm going to tell him the same thing I've been telling to Johnny and (Monahan) the year before -- 'Just play your game,' " Hudler said. "The message for them is 'Be confident. Believe in yourself. If you see a one-on-one battle, go for it.' I'd rather see Benny lose the puck in a battle, one-on-one, in their zone than be scared to make a move or be scared to go for it.

"Most young guys put a lot of pressure on themselves, and I think the first thing he told me when we found out we were going to be linemates was, 'Just have fun,' " Bennett said. "'Let's have fun out there,'

I hope he is the next extension
If we can jettison any of our poor contracts (Smid, Engelland, Raymond), hopefully we can get it done.
Hopefully 5x5 range

I've been thinking that Bennett won't be in a position to rack up points this year being on the third line and all but if he's paired with Hudler, he'll be getting quality offensive ice time and a chance to pad his stats.

I'm gonna say it. CALLED IT.
Hartley believes in this guy as a mentor.
And I believe in Hartley.
I'm gonna call it now, once Bennett has established himself in the NHL we will see
Hudler - Bennett - Poirier
Hudler will leave Calgary with an amazing legacy one day, if in no other way than the players who learnt how to be pros with him.

Huska Gelinas and Sigalet are on the ice waiting for the players to arrive.
