Was at a car dealership over the weekend:

Sales guy: Is this your first time buying a car?
calf: No, I've bought a few cars in my time.
Sales guy: Yeah, I thought you were too old to be a first time car buyer.

Playing hockey last year with 19 and 20 year olds fresh off of junior sure makes a guy feel old. Got into fight one game (guy deserved it, cheap hits, stick in the groin, we've all played him) and on the way back to the dressing room he calls me coach...I coached him on my sons lacrosse team roughly 12 years earlier, didn't recognize him with the helmet on.

Mostly I don't recover very quickly from my poorly thought out sporting adventures. Bad knee and back can really take the steam out of you.

Bubbsy put it well in terms of the psychological aspect of having kids making you feel older.....then add in the sleep deprivation and loss of person time for things like your ability to play rugby 2x a week.

I watched boy meets world on tv yesterday and remembered how every guy in junior high/high school wore plaid unbuttoned shirts in the mid 90's.

A fashion statement still continued by grad students in the humanities today.

Watching my kids go through their hockey evaluations in midget makes me feel old. And slow. And they never get tired!

Stepping out onto the ice with them makes me feel even older and slower.

My brain is also still trying to process the fact that kids on their teams can now drive themselves to games and practices.

When I was a kid my grandfather would give me '2 bits' and I could buy a bottle of Coke and a bag of Old Dutch chips.

Comics cost 12 cents!

I have two kids and a wife. My kids play hockey, lacrosse and rugby. Both my wife and I work. Our house is busy, yet I find the time to exercise.

Anyone can find excuses if you look hard enough.

Looking in the mirror and seeing all my grey hair makes me feel old.

I've been posting on Calgarypuck in one form or another for about 16 years. Yikes.

A client of mine needed their website to sell event tickets. Whenever I set up something like that, I start with some test users so they can see what it'll look like when emails come in from people buying tickets. To ensure the test users don't get grouped into the actual users, I use noticeably fake names – most often Simpsons characters. This particular time I used Ned, Rod, and Todd Flanders.

The girl receiving the test emails needed a coworker to explain the names to her as The Simpsons weren't relevant when she was growing up.
