Aren't they currently back to back national champs?

When I was there, they were on some sort of 13 year winning streak (something like 200 game winning streak or something) .... crazy

He did, but it wasn't a big deal. Wasn't labouring at all through the rest of it and skated off at the intermission without difficulty. I think they were planning on having them go 2-1 anyway.

Karnaukhov's name keeps popping up during these early events. I think the NHL is on the verge of a Russian renaissance, and I'm thrilled Treliving was able to get one into the system.

Playing junior in Calgary might also allow him to help convince other Russian prospects to come over to Calgary - nobody wants to be in a strange place without anyone who speaks your native language. A countryman who already played his junior there can probably assuage some potential apprehensions.

Could also not be more pleased with Andersson. I can't remember where I read this before the draft, but someone called him the Swedish PK Subban. To get a potential Karlsson and Subban in the second round of the same draft is phenomenal.

Highlights and post-game coverage:

0:10 in - Arnold to Klimchuk for a top-corner snipe (2-0 goal).
1:09 in - Karnaukhov with a good hit.
1:31 in - Lomberg with a defensive play.
1:44 in - Lomberg's faux-OT goal.

How hard would it have been to show all the goals? Silly.

Boy, Karnaukhov has impressed me greatly this past week. I don't know how he fared tonight but I swear to the hockey gods his faceoff percentage was in the 80's. Straight up dominated. Couple that with some really promising playmaking displays and now some goal scoring touch, it looks like yet another steal in the late rounds.

How awesome is it that all the 2015 picks have impressed. Andersson, Mangipane, Kylington, Karnaukhov, even heard good things about Bruce too.

Bruce is a little slow in the same manner that Kanzig was when he was drafted.

However, his positioning is very good and knows how to properly separate the puck from the attacker without needing to HULK SMASH that Kanzig does.

I think he was 2+1 tonight and first star. I saw him in person last winter and to me he looks way bigger and thicker now, he just turn 18 so I guess it's not uncommon.

I thought he played wing but in any case he looks great, big, strong, fast and talented.

Thanks for the updates and the recap, CG - really appreciate it!

Obviously it's early and "only" prospect camp, but still good to see that late picks like Karnaukhov and Mangiapane have done well!

Yep UofA is typically a better team than Calgary Dinos. Since 2001 they've won Canada West every year but two. Calgary is usually second best in the conference.

Is Karnaukhov on Russia's WJT radar? Was he involved in the games in the summer (can't remember)? Does a solid start to the season get him a shot?

He wasn't on their teams this summer. He has played for them at the Ivan Hlinka last year.

The Flames have picked a giant human in three straight drafts. Taking one flier a year on these kids is ideal, eventually one of them should figure it out.

This is Flames TV we are talking about. The most budget outfit you'll ever see.

You should apply there LOL. You have some skills with the video stuff.
