with all the actual hockey news going on, this thread should be moved. It really has nothing to do with hockey anymore.

Really? I mean, I understand the suggestion of having a protective nature, but I also live in the real world and meet countless thousands of people.
Not every woman you meet is sugar and spice and everything nice and not every man is a leering rapist. People are just people.
Realistically there are realistic arguments that can be made on both sides to argue for the guilt or innocence of either party hypothetically but at the moment people are attempting to extrapolate a conclusion based on absolutely no information.

I agree we shouldn't be trying this case on the net! Some interesting comments for sure. Sometimes in these date rape scenarios I think maybe not as clear cut as how the people involved view it. "He forced me". "She liked it, we were fooling around." It's all horrid and hopefully we can get onto real hockey, Pentiction!

JMO Kane's lawyer's are trying to get to a number that the alleged victim will agree to so charges will not be laid.
Thing is not everyone has a price tag so easily which again JMO why this process has been so hush hush and lengthy.
The charges will be made immediately if the victim says she did not give consent. I think that is all the DA is waiting for. That they have enough physical evidence but its all up to the victim.

I just said the odds that this was some kind of advanced plan to get money out of Patrick Kane are pretty slim.

Pretty slim based on what? People don't marry for money? People don't divorce for money? People don't kill for money? People dont fake injury for money? People dont lie, cheat, and steal for money? These are daily occurrences. It doesn't have to be some advanced plan but people are opportunistic.

Grand jury to resume in two weeks:
http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports...910-story.html
Quote:
Kane's attorney, Paul Cambria, said Thursday that he did not know why prosecutors canceled the grand jury presentation but that the move did not come at his request. He also said he was told the proceedings would resume soon, though he would not discuss any other aspect of the case.
"We were informed that it (the grand jury) was rescheduled," Cambria said.
Sources said the case is slated to go before the grand jury in about two weeks, which puts it on a collision course with the Blackhawks' training camp, which opens Sept. 18.
At least five potential witnesses are expected to appear before the grand jury, in addition to Kane's accuser.

Thats a big 'Bring It' move.
They must be confident in either his innocence or a lack of evidence.
At the end of the day we still know absolutely nothing more than we used to.

Something tells me his attorneys are going to dismantle the prosecution.
(doesn't mean he was actually innocent, we probably will never know the truth)

Isn't his lawyer a big time porn industry lawyer too?

"Big time porn industry lawyer" you have to admit that would look good on a business card.

Looking at his lawyer's Wikipedia page... "The Cambria List" is quite the thing to have as your claim to fame.
Quote:
Cambria is known for creating a list of sex acts that he recommended pornographers not film so as to avoid possible legal problems with the U.S. Government. It became known as "The Cambria List" and is controversial and subject to interpretation, even within the porn industry, particularly with regards to whether it is best applied only to box cover art.

Expect the Blackhawks to provide info on Patrick Kane's training camp status today. No reason to think Kane won't participate.

Supposedly that decision is still a week or so away. The length of time now has me leaning towards no charges. It might indicate a deal is in the works.

Charging him doesn't make him guilty though. I wonder if they let him play until he's convicted of a charge?

I think they suspend him as a "distraction". Voynov was suspended pre-conviction. But you are right, they don't have to.
