Is windows 10 not popular? I like it. Compared to 8 anyways. I still prefer 7.
I think there are a lot of people who still don't like it. There are those that I have spoken to that like it better than 8 though. I'm like you, 7 is the best version of Windows IMO. I updated one system to 10 and then wiped it and went back to 7. Got rid of all the update notifications on all our Windows 7 systems as well. I really don't like how Microsoft has made the upgrade almost mandatory and in your face even if you don't want it.
I went from 7 to 10 on my laptop just so I could run the Hyper-V manager.
10 seems fine. NFW I was going to go to 8. That said, there's no compelling reason to switch from 7 to 10 other than the Hyper-V tool.
Once I get close to the end of the 1 year free upgrade, I'll likely upgrade the rest of my computers.
Sorry, forgot to check the thread while on vacation.
No problem, I found what you were talking about playing around with my Surface later.
I think it might actually be very useful on my surface. I'm doing a monster road trip soon, and to be able to pull into a town in the US, with no free cell data, and pull up a map of the nearest brewery and MacDonald's? Awesome. I also really like looking at maps on a larger screen, so having these on something bigger than my phone is great.
Thanks for the tip, I would have never known.

Ugh, kept getting the Ready to Upgrade window and my choices were upgrade now, or upgrade within 3 days, can't kill the app Windows just relaunches it. Can't delete the install folder directly, Microsoft gives it permissions higher than Administrator...
I think I might have finally found a way to get rid of it until I'm ready to install it when I want to, though this whole thing really makes me want to not upgrade, though I'm a gamer, I don't have much choice.
I even tried contacting Microsoft, they gave me a number after grilling me about why I don't want to install Windows 10 but I didn't try calling, I kinda want to call to see what they'd say.
Anyway here's a website with a link to an app that seems to have finally helped me.
On a side note, I just realized what Bill said is correct. I didn't notice until I zoomed in further that the offline maps do show many businesses. This is far superior than many other apps that don't show this info.

Still haven't received my upgrade notification, when I check the upgrade status it has the notify me when ready, I've clicked it about 20 times, and still nothing.

Go into Windows Update and check your update history, I bet you'll have a crapload of Windows 10 Upgrade failed tasks. You'll have to go through the manual upgrade route if that's the case
One mistake I did when trying to update to 10 was not plugging in my laptop. At least that was what I think the problem was because after numerous failures and trying the manual method, it finally updated with no problem after plugging it in.
Hey guys, didn't want to start a new thread but need a bit of advice on getting a new PC. With Windows 10 out I thought it might be relevant to post here.
I have been a mac guy for nearly the last decade, haven't owned a Windows computer in quite some time. I just had to sell my MacBook Air because I need some additional power and drive space.
I am now considering jumping back to a Windows desktop for a few reasons. It seems like I can get more machine for my money vs Mac, Windows 10 seems decent, and I have read there is good integration with Xbox One (which I already own). I want a machine that is capable of being a media server to stream content to my Xbox One. I am not a PC gamer by any means but I do tinker with some audio production software from time to time.
Questions I have -- are machines like this easy to upgrade if I need more RAM or a better video card? Also, who are the reputable PC manufacturers these days? I have no idea how to tell a good product from a bad one.
Thanks for any input.
