What exactly changed significantly enough to be "blown away"? Honestly asking, because I agree with those saying it looks like NHL 15 with mascots.
I'm sure the gameplay has changed, but has it changed much more than an updated tuner set would've provided? I'm not seeing anything immediately recognizable as any different from NHL 15 from the videos I've seen.
Not planning to get the game this year and nothing I've seen has really changed my mind.
Also, is there a demo this year?
Here is a just a few things that come to mind.
From what I heard there is no demo this year.
At least in EASHL player types are huge into deciding on what your player will be able to do during the game which has not been part of EASHL in the past. I am not sure how this will carry over into other game modes but I hope it will.
Defensively the Computer AI will block shots and poke check. (Makes it much more difficult to cut to the middle to snipe shots)
Game speed is slightly slower
Goalies have more animations and react more realistically
Added back the ability to view any save or play during a game
Added back the tracking of lots of stats accessible at pause/intermission menu.
I'm buying it for sure, the game looks actually good for once. No stupid dangles and useless dmen, I always play d in Eashl and it looks like the defense actually work this year. No more cross crease passes through 3 sticks.
Man I'm excited, really looking forward to NHL 16 and playing a good game of hockey again. I also can't wait to play EASHL with the CalgaryPuck Fata's!
Can someone give the details about EA access members benefits?
I'm a member and noticing on the update that EA access members have the ability to play tmrw??
Also, a buddy was saying that members got early access last year for 3 days but for only a total of 6 hours.
Thanks in advance
EA Access gives you a 10 hour trial of every new game. The trial starts 5 days before the actual release date, so NHL 16 will be available tomorrow. You can only play 10 hours until release though, even if you've purchased it.
EA Access also gives you a 10% discount on all EA purchases (that includes buying the game, and any HUT packs that you purchase with cash).

After NHL 15 was generally lambasted by critics, they still had to plow forward, developing the next iteration in the series without much of a breather to take stock of what happened. However, that does not mean they have not "rebuilt on the fly." In my time visiting the developers up in Burnaby as well as checking out the game at E3, it’s clear to me that the team has taken many steps to right the ship.

So... just to confirm, they did complete the game this time for next-gen systems? I'm not going to buy it and have a crazy lack of modes, drafting, etc?

Yep, looks like they're correcting the sins of NHL 15.

i've already prepurchased the game, and am a ea access member. Does this mean i will have access at midnight EST tonite for the 10 hours till the 15th?

Depends on when Microsoft updates - it might not be until sometime during tomorrow afternoon.
im a versus, hut, offline (gm, season) type player. SO the beta did little for me.
got in using early access last night, and this am a bit before work. Though the game looks and feels a lot like last year, the subtle differences make the game a hell of a lot better and more fun.
played 3 HUT games was disappointing, played a pure figure skater, and just got killed. then in the last 2 games, i played a much different player (ie. not a figure skater) and benefited from playing a much more conservative d game (stay goal side, try to keep my stick on the puck carrier's forehand side, etc). Now the question is, would my adjusted d approach work against the ultra figure skater. I am not so sure, as the protect puck is just too advantageous, but let's see.
all in all, i'm really excited, even if i again have to give up on online play, there's enough offline content back this year and with the progress made in actual gameplay, i can't wait to play much deeper into the year.
Well... Last night i decided to see if the game was available and sure enough, it was..
I started my 10 hours last night by playing 3 hut games and here are my thoughts..
Let me preface this by echoing my previous posts that this game is such a disapointment with lazy, close-minded and biased, Canucks region homer developers...
Was I ever wrong...
The physics in the game are much cleaning and sensible. You actually have to turn a player to make an accurate pass rather than just holding a direction while facing the opposite and making blind, between the legs cross ice passes.
Hitting is much more realistic too... In my "returning user" packs, I drew Johnny Hockey and Sam Bennett. I tried hitting David Backes with JG and bounced off of him with what is essentially a "charging" hit. So player size does matter.
players stats are not jacked up right off the hop with normal cards so there is room for bringing in the milestone, TOTW, POTG, etc.. cards. Having a team of 95-99 rated players in 15 was stupid. There is room, stats wise, for the "special" cards.
My description probably isnt that clear but all i can say is that so far, I was very wrong.
This game is miles beyond the previous installments of the franchise and im really glad i didnt stay true to my initial opinion about this game. I would have regretted it.
Game on!!!
only issue is the 10 hours play time.. if theyre going to release it early, then just bloddy well release it early to those who qualify.. Now I have to manage how much I play until tuesday?.. probably a server stress test is what the 10 hours early play is all about... But i'll take what I can get, i guess.

It may play good now, but the casual fans will complain and a new tuner set will ruin it by October. Happens every year.
