No Sven? Maybe he won't cry all the way through their camp.

Not eligible. Too many games played.

I don't think he was eligible last year either.

Sven is a first liner with the Sedins bro.

He'll probably skip main camp too. It's below him.

Hellebuyck is real good.

Hellebuyck is really really good, but Comrie kind of pulls them back into balance with the Flames tandem maybe a little less. Gillies is going to be a treat to watch. And McDonald is the current favorite for #1 duties at the WJC, don't sell our guys too short.

While I agree Mason McDonald is a beast and Gillies is a good prospect, let's not sell Comrie short here:

http://ingoalmag.com/features/top-50...5-2016-season/

Comrie is 4th on that list.

My Oiler fans friends are starting already. Here are some quotes from our conversations today.

"We have more elite players than the Flames at this tournament"

Hmm...maybe true, but the drop off from the best 3 Oilers to the rest may as well be the Grand Canyon

"I would compare Nurse to Chris Pronger"

I have no words for that one.

"Oh well be better for sure, not sure just how much but definitely better"

Pretty hard to be worse, but the Oilers always find a way. Also, I've heard that line many times before.

"McDavid alone is worth an increase in the standings of 10 points. Talbot another 10. McLellan another 10."

The hype is strong with this one.

Me: "I see McDavid at least eclipsing the 50 point plateau this year. Just not sure it'll be much higher."

Him: "Oh he'll easily eclipse the 70 point mark."

Me: "That would put him in the top 20 in scoring for last season."

Him: "And?"

See this is why I never feel bad for Oilers fans. They are always ready to boast before their team has ever done anything, and set completely unrealistic expectations for their team. I always enjoy the schadenfreude when they lose over and over again.

This has probably been said, but agostino is playing at 210lbs? He has to be thick considering he's only 6'

#Flames have announced their roster for the Young Stars Classic in Penticton. 31 plays: 3 goalies, 11 d-men, and 17 forwards.

EDIT: Here:

Gillies and McDonald should be the best goaltending in the tournament.

Stoked for Andersson and Kylington. And those FW's. Boy this organization is looking really deep.
The initial standout to me is how many guys the Flames brought that played pro lat season. 8 guys who played substantial AHL/NHL games.

Oilers brought Draisaitl, Winquist and Moroz and left guys like Yakimov, Simpson, and Oesterle at home.

I believe Winnipeg and Canuck's rosters are mostly all non pro players as well.

^ Canucks roster has 3 AHL guys, 1 ECHL and 1 NCAA (which is a men's league really). The thing is, their roster has no goalies worth speaking of.

This isn't that unreasonable given the talent level we're talking about here.

Let's see:

Bennett - 12 NHL games
Kulak - 26 AHL games + 1 NHL game
Culkin - 37 AHL games
Poirier - 20-year-old going into Draft+3

Should all be no-brainers to play.

That's three guys with less AHL/NHL level experience than Draisaitl and a kid who could have been playing Junior last year without being an overager. The other four:

Agostino
Arnold
BVB
Sieloff

Arnold and Agostino probably could have taken a bye, but this is only their second opportunity to even play in this tourney as they're NCAA guys, and it's a good chance to guage their progress after a year pro. Same applies to BVB, who was forgettable in his rookie pro season and could use any opportunity he gets to show his stuff.

That leaves Sieloff, and he's missed so much development (2012-13, 2013-14, and pretty much Sept through December 2014) that every opportunity to get him into anything resembling a game is a good one. Even last year he was a regular healthy scratch as he tried to get the hang of playing hockey back and only participated in 48 games.

Slepychev and Laurikainen both played in pro leagues last season as well. And the KHL / Liiga are considered to be higher level of play than the AHL.

I could see McBagel getting 70+ points if he was on a great team.
Oilers? I see him barely reaching 60 points.

To be honest though I wouldn't be blown away if he did get above 70 if things happen to go well and they have a unsustainable season. :| Difference of 10 points thanks to him? Nah.

I think we're underrating McBagel because of our constant reminder to temper expectations because of recent letdowns and Edmonton has a classic case of massively overrating players because they're so desperate to not be horrible. I'm gonna guess he finishes between 62-67 points, barring getting obliterated.

He will absolutely get obliterated, like Hall, Nuge before him.

They will ask him to do way too much, and he will try to deliver.

Oilers are horrible.

McBagel fizzles and Oilers destruction will be complete. They'll be better off selling the team and asking for an expansion.

Did you let him know that that 30 point increase would still leave them outside of a playoff spot?
