Some of the Twitter comments on #peegate are comedy gold!
Of all the things that could take down a candidate... This would never to me as possible.

Perhaps the most amazing is that some people (CPeeC supporters) are trying to vindicate him. It's weird. I know that partisanship can get thick, but he peed in a customers coffee cup! I guess I would expect most people to find that disgusting, regardless of which party they guy is running for.

"The writer mentions, but glosses over the fact, that 8 ocean scientists (basically the entire faculty of ocean science at UVIC) have assesed the situation, and say no ill effect has ever been measured, that the proposed system will make a negligible environmental impact, and if we want to spend a billion dollars we should worry about storm run off from the roads - because gas and oil dripping out of cars is a very serious, measurable and potentially treatable problem. The other people who might know would be medical health officers. Whoops! they don't think it's needed either. Oh-oh, better call Mr Floatie.
So we have a bizarre situation where the only people that really know - the ocean scientists - say there is no evidence [that treatment is required]. Everyone else (who doesn't know) is all for it. A Loony Toon, upside down world to be sure. It's too bad the writer did not highlight this insanity - which is really the story here."

Justin Trudeau has called on the party leaders to meet now to get something going to help the refugee crisis. He isn't content to until after the election to do something it seems.
http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/refu...ders-1.3217635
I know the decision is 90% political right now, but it should earn him a few points.

The CBC is doing a series of one-on-one interviews with the party leaders this week, all taped last week (except Elizabeth May). Trudeau's was taped before the picture of Alan Kurdi's body was top of the news, so my guess is that his refugee-related comments in the interview may be taken as a bit less urgent than he would like at this point. He likely needs to show he cares about the issue (which he may, cynicism aside... I think we should take action sooner too).

So you're saying you support dumping raw sewage in the ocean?

PeeGate and now EjaculationGate. The CPC does a better job of vetting the audiences for Harper speeches than they do their own candidates. Totally dicked those two nominations up.

Holy spin:
Quote:
Conservative Leader Stephen Harper addressed the dismissal of the two controversial candidates Monday, saying it speaks to the quality of candidates the party demands. He added that they will be replaced.
“We expect the highest standards of our candidates and that's why these two individuals are no longer there,” he said.
Anna Sajnovic, a Conservative party volunteer in the GTA, said in an interview “of course it looks bad but we got rid of them so I think it says a lot about the integrity” of the party's campaign.

Don't think many people are going to fall for that. I also feel that this is pretty much a concession of those two ridings. Could they possibly still win them now?

I guess if there was a place to have junk candidates. Then again, the one thing Harper has done in this string of forming governments was make sure the headcases in his party don't get the air time and say or do something stupid. The past year has been one stupid thing said or done after another.

The other interviews are all probably similar in regards to urgency. The LPC position was always humanitarian aid and refugee assistance. In fact, they suggested a long time ago that money being put into military action should instead be used in Turkey to assist the refugee crisis there and stop an en masse migration.
I think he is just using it as political capital. If the other leaders do not accept a meeting to do something, then they look like they are bluffing with their intentions and don't care as much about the crisis. If they accept it, Trudeau looks like a man of action and that he is an alpha leader. It's a win-win.

This Conservative campaign will go down in history for its incompetence, paranoia and unintentional comedy gold. They must have felt relieved that the Duffy trial was on hiatus

Yeah, more a loss since whatever was on the grid for the CPC today has been replaced with Tories pissing in mugs and ejaculate talk... that's not really the news cycle they want.
