I just re-upped my EA Plus. the annual fee of $29.99 is really worth it.

Last year I bought a physical copy of NHL 15. Turned it in to EB in Feb and got about $30.
1 week later it was released on EA plus and played it for free. I also did the same with BF4, the return wasnt nearly as good.. I also played FIFA, Madden, Need for speed and the discount @ 10% off all EA digital content is pretty sweet. Especially if you are buy DLC (packs, expansions... etc).

Im looking forward to BF Hardline and Madden to be released in Nov/Dec likely or at the latest Jan 16.

Starting a new post to get thoughts on a player ranking system that I would like EA to consider going forward.

Instead of having cards in HUT being statically rated, why not do a "on your team" type of performance tracker/rating adjuster loosely based on an advanced stats type system.

Hear me out...

I will use Pavel Datsyuk for example - rated 89 ovr on regular card. Have a performance adjuster that scales with in 3 overall points of his base rating.

If I have Datsyuk on my top line, getting alot of minutes (endurance) and he is lighting it up for my team, his rating could go up to 92 ovr. if he is doing piss poor on faceoffs, +/- and not producing, his over could drop to 87. His individual stats (hands, skating, defence, offense, checking... etc) could follow in suit.

If im playing Datsyuk in my bottom 6, his production will likely be lower, ergo his overall would likely be effected.

Vice Versa, if im using ... Matt Stajan as my #1C, his base rating is 84 ovr. Lets say hes dominant in the position FOR ME on MY TEAM, his rating could go up to 87 overall.
But if he doesnt get bottom 6 minutes and is a healthy scratch more often than not, his OVR goes down to 81.

Trading cards... An average Stamkos goes between 600/800K throughout the year.
Under this rating system Stamkos could be a base of 92 OVR which would fetch an average of 700K, if YOUR Stamkos is dominant and producing like crazy maybe his rating goes up 1,2 or even 3 points bringing him to a 95 OVR. You could get well above average for him.
Where as if you have a franchise player in each position and Stamkosis on your 2nd line or even 3rd line.. his rating could drop to an 89 OVR, effecting his performance and sale value. and people may jump at picking him up at a cheap price.

This would force guys to actually build their teams with some sort of intelligence and not have every hi-ranked player out there.

You could still have Milestone, Team of the week cards, yada yada, their overall would simply be offset by one or 2 rating points or possibly the drop in rating be lower with the ceiling in point rating be higher.

Anyway... just some random thoughts i have while sitting in the middle of the pacific ocean...

Can't argue with that list.. However Hall is terribly over-rated.

Monahan had 62 points to Hall's 38.. Sure Hall got hurt but his pace was not that of a top 50 player.

Hall has also scored 80+ in a non injury year.

I wouldn't look at a 2nd year guys ranking too much. EA is notorious for player ratings based on media perception. At least IMO. Contrary to belief in these parts Hall is a top LW'er.

I'm not kidding, it might be worthwhile buying an Xbox for that reason alone.

Agree... with Xbox live membership, and EA Access. $70 a year gives you a great fix of sports titles and other EA games.

So is there an "edit player" option this year? Because some of those ratings really, really suck.

Jeff Carter 90 overall? What year is this?

And what has Frederik Andersen done to be 89 overall?

Remember that the rating system is appropriate to their position. Kessel would be a sniper probably, with high shot ratings and such, which are appropriate and increase his overall. But he could be crap In a bunch of stats that don't add into his overall.

Crosby is probably a 96 due to being a play maker with almost maxed passing and such.

Guys with rounded offense/defense/aggression could actually have a lower overall on paper, but when you look at their stats they could be insanely good, just not all in the focused stats of their player type.

90 or higher is right for him. He's had great number in NJ. Even before that, since 2010-2011, his lowest save % was .921.

I was surprised at this... about 4 months ago i was having a debate about the "best" goalies in the world.

Statistically, Schneider is tied for best GAA in history @ 2.17 and 2nd in save percentage @ .925

Sorry, i am dumb and cant imbed.

Hiller is #14...

My mistake. Read Schneider and was thinking one of the Toronto goalies, for some odd reason.

I thought Holtby is a little high.

Basically one good season.

Might as well have Dubnyk in that area as well...
