New episode was kinda meh. After I spent a week hyping it to friends.
Season 2 has had its moments but I've been rewatching season 1 lately and it's just on a whole other level. The song contest episode in particular was probably the weakest of the whole series. But I thought this week's was pretty good, I eapecially liked the Beth and Jerry parts.
For me the biggest difference between the 2 seasons is how much more cynical Morty has become and how much less aloof Rick is. I think that duo is at their best when aloof Rick is inadvertently traumatizing the more innocent Morty.

The show has grown though, Morty isn't innocent anymore and is completely jaded now after all the #### he's been through. And season 2 has been gold outside the average Schwifty episode (though the song itself was gold), the miniverses with Rick's car protecting Summer is up there for best of the series so far. And the last episode with Rick axe murdering his clones while naked, how is that not awesome?

I think Party Elephant meant that season 2 is the one that's "on a whole other level".
I could be wrong though.
No I meant season 2 hasn't quite lived up to 1. I don't think it's been bad or anything, the memory parasites is one of my favourites and the Jerry daycare was hilarious as well. There just aren't any weak spots in season 1, it's all great.

Yeah I agree about Morty, it's a good arc for his character.
I love season 2, I re-watched season 1 again last weekend and yeah its great but I think a lot of the shine of season 1 is just falling in love with a new show that makes us laugh so hard.
The longer it draws on the more we will start to get used to it, like any great comedy unless they somehow manage to continue the madness and genius that is this TV show...
