I had invisalign at one point, highly recommend it. They aren't completely invisible obviously but they are about as close as you can get. The tweaking and adjustments were completely painless and in under a year I had perfect teeth.
I think I paid 4k for mine, I don't exactly remember though... might have been 4500.

They cost more and take longer than regular braces. After your treatment, you may require regular braces anyway. You might have some of your teeth sandpapered in half for invisalign to work. You will probably wear a permanent retainer top/bottom afterward.

4500 is not too bad. where is your dentist/ortho located?

If you needed regular braces after invisalign you should have never had invisalign to begin with and your orthodontist just took you for a ride. Permanent retainers are normal for any kind of braces.
I had no issues with them and was out of them in 9 months. I highly recommend them if they will work for you..

$4500 for Invisalign? Wow that is really cheap.

I'm almost done, have about 4 aligners left. I went with Dr Sam Daher in West Vancouver (he has an office in Calgary too). Very happy with it, it's been remarkable how fast it's gone. I started at the end of March and I'll be done by the end of September. If you do decide on Invisalign, I recommend using the "acceledent". Basically it's a vibrating mouthpiece you bite down on for 20 min per day, it accelerates the tooth movement. PM me if you have any more questions.

I've seen a couple of Acceledent users when doing my research. Is it really effective? How much extra did it cost you? Is it a rental or do you get to keep it after the treatment?

Every single point of this statement is false. It's actually impressive how many times were you able to be incorrect in a single post.
OP ... the quoted post is extremely bad advice. Find an Orthodontist / Dentist with actual experience and make an informed decision.

Had them 8 years ago and they were awesome, 13 months vs 2 years with regular braces. I think it was around 5k.

My wife went to Sam in his Calgary office. It was actually her second time using Invislaign. The first time she went to her dentist and had a few problems, the most major being she couldn't finish them due to other issues. About 5 years later she went to Sam as her research said she was better to go with an orthodontist than a dentist. She is now done but continues to wear either an upper or lower one at night, can't remember which. I think she will always have to, or her teeth will move back.

I highly recommend it. It knocked 8 months or so off the expected time to straighten my teeth. So 6 months vs over a year. Personally I've found it helps speed up any discomfort when you put in a new aligner. I bought mine, it was $500 but well worth it. I guess ill try and sell it afterwards.

Yeah I was told I'd need to wear retainers at night, but I've also heard that people who've had braces should wear retainers afterwards as well. Not that big of an inconvenience imo

Dr. Briton at Broadway Dental, in Saskatoon. I looked it up because I was curious, it was $4678.00 after all was said and done. The first set of retainers was supplied, however they do eventually stretch out. So I ordered another set about 3 years ago that he covered, cost was $350. If it is the same as when I did it you get 3 retainers (top/bottom) and each one will last you about 1.5-2 years before it is to worn out. I generally rotate mine every year.
Ivisalign isn't for everyone, it is generally only for those who don't need major corrections which is usually cosmetic appearance only. If your dentist let you get them when you should have had actual braces then I would not be giving that dentist any more of my business.
Definitely worth getting a few opinions from different dentists. And ask about the cost of the retainers being included, because I know for a friend it was not. This was my last 'free' set, after this it is out of my own pocket but that still saved me $700 total.

I paid $6,000 for them a few years ago in Vancouver. They worked really well. I still wear a retainer (Invisalign brand) at night. If I don't wear the retainer for a couple days, it's pretty tight to get it back on the bottom. The top I can go a week without wearing and it'll be fine.
