Wes Craven, the famed writer-director of horror films known for the Nightmare on Elm Street and Scream movies, died Sunday after a battle with brain cancer. He was 76.
I was first introduced to horror movies when I was far too young through Nightmare on Elm Street. He really was a master of the genre.

Wow.

He was the Stephen King of movies as far as I am concerned. Sad to hear.

I can remember when his Nightmare on Elm Street was playing at the Palace Theatre across from the Bay. One of the workers dressed up like Freddy Kruger and went throughout the theatre scaring the bejesus out of the females in the the audience. All would be quiet and then you'd hear some female scream. It was hilarious!

The king of Horror movies.
