Another tragic fan fall in MLB

Quote:
A fan who fell from the upper deck during Saturday night's game between the Atlanta Braves and New York Yankees at Turner Field was taken to a local hospital.
Police told WSB TV in Atlanta that the fan was in "grave" condition.
The fan fell during action in the seventh inning of Saturday's game, and play continued as stadium workers tended to the fan.
|
As discussed in the Blue Jays thread, witnesses said he was visibly drunk and screaming at Alex Rodriguez when he toppled over a couple of women and fell from the upper deck to the first level.
They're saying grave condition, but I'd imagine he's passed away by now. Another fan fell 65 feet to his death at this field in 2013 according to the article.

Confirmed he has died, unfortunately.
Quote:
ATLANTA -- Police have confirmed that a man who fell from the upper deck at Turner Field during a game between the Atlanta Braves and New York Yankees has died.
Fans watching from home first found out about the incident from the Fox Sports broadcaster who described, in shock, what had just happened in front of him.
"Someone just fell over the upper-deck right below us; oh my gosh," the announcer said. "As Alex Rodriguez was being introduced, a fan fell from the upper deck."

I was actually kind of watching that and saw the part when that happened. Bizarre, the commentators, were, wtf? Someone just fell right in front of us.

I was at the Dome when a Canuck fan went over the railing and was carried out on a stretcher - scary, but I think he was ok.

Is that when he hit the canopy on the second level first?

I wonder if you could install catch nets that extend 10ft out from the railing without getting in the way of sight lines

Couldn't help but notice the one classy dude close to the top right of that pic who's very close to the action, using his camera to get a good, probably fairly close up pic of the person given his proximity.
I know that's not surprising at all in our current, snap happy society, but that just comes across as extremely distasteful to me. Why would you want that picture? Kinda creepy.

Was at a game in Mile High Stadium in 1997. Our seats were 1 row from the very top. Two visibly drunk women carrying two beers each came walking up to our area from concession. One of them went down and rolled probably 30 rows and was stopped only when her head smacked a railing.
Inebriation and arenas/stadiums are not a good combination.

Yes, that was me. I would hope you could understand the difference between posting death pics/vids and posting a tragic story because it's news.
