Once you nail down the basics, you start to pick up on the different lights and sounds... they're all I need from a distance. Insanely bright strobes on both the front and back of the wing? Embraer. Double flashing wingtip strobes? Airbus. White anti-collision? Likely a Q400. LED everything? That has to be a Skywest E175, in Edmonton anyway. LED strobes but a conventional beacon? Most likely a Sunwing 738.

Most types have at least one lighting feature I can pick up on.

Aerolineas Argentinas pilots showing you how to land with some good crosswind down in Ushuaia, Argentina:

I wonder why the A343 though? Back in 2008 when my wife and I went there we were on a simple 734 from Buenos Aires.

That would have been a horrible death for those motorists.

That air to air shot is a computer rendering, no actual photo flights have been done yet.

So the 767 did indeed arrive at YYC, today at 1:09am.

This aircraft first flew on March 10, 1991... though there won't be evidence of that in the cabin.

262 seats (238Y/24Y+) with comparable pitch to the 737.

WestJet has now confirmed on Twitter that all aircraft will be receiving the new maple leaf logo. I'm indifferent to it, really.

I like it. I think it's subtle but key to brand.

I would have really loved the addition of some colour on the middle or bottom of the fuselage, like a nice cheat line.

Harder on the 737's but I wonder if WestJet has considered adding their name to the bottom of the fuselage like many more airlines are doing? Emirates was the first I believe and just a few days ago Delta announced they are going to do it.

Just curious, but how many years do you think they'll operate a 25y old plane?

It's less a factor of age and more a factor of cycles (take offs and landings) and how well maintained they were/are.

According to some posts online these 4 former Qantas birds only have about 1/3 of the lifetime cycles they are designed for on them (since they flew lots of long sectors, versus shorter flights).

So lots of legs left in these birds, I'm sure WestJet will take good care of them too.

Thanks a nice looking plane for being 25 years old. Always loved the looks of the 767/757. The 757 in particular has been a favorite plane of mine to fly in. Nothing climbs from takeoff live a 757, seems to just have so much power.

The 757 is a wonderful airplane. The PW2's and the RB211 both offer exceptional performance and allow for the high power/weight ratio the 757 enjoys.

You would love the departure in a 757 freighter with an empty hull !!

The only thing about that 67 is that it has the old overhead bins. Flew on an updated BA one earlier this year and the biggest thing was that it had new bins and it helped a ton back in cattle class.
