So is it like OkCupid meets Tinder? Actually scratch that, Tinder isn't really a hookup app at this stage, if it ever was.

Anyway, maybe the dude just joined like every dating site there is.

Basically just a dating app, which like any dating site can be used for hookups.

Seems like the only people that think it's strictly a hookup app have never used it.

It's a dating site that's set up as a hookup site. Which is really weird, because you have almost no information about the person other than a few lines of text, some photos and whatever they tell you in the text messaging thing after you match with them... but it seems to work okay. I started using it exactly one week ago (along with Bumble, which is like Tinder except the girl has to send the first message).

I would say that if you are good-looking and social enough, you will probably use it as a hook-up app. I don't speak from experience, but I have several friends who definitely use it just to hook-up.

I'm sure they do, and the same goes for AM, POF, or any other dating site. Speaking from experience, I've had 2 relationships from it, a few casual dates, and 0 hookups.
I also know a number of women who didn't want to use it because they weren't actually looking for anything serious.

Typically when one blackmails someone the preferred method of payment is the stereotypical sack with a dollar sign on it overflowing with cash.

A black duffelbag full of cash stuffed in a public trash can is a close runner-up.

^Yeah - for blackmail, isn't it the non-descript mailing envelope with cash?

Also I wouldn't be surprised if what people use it for differs depending on age. Maybe the 18-22 year olds are all using it to get laid.

That's bank and/or train robbery.

Oh man, my illicit transaction methods knowledge is shamefully inaccurate.

I sincerely apologize.

But what's the payment for internet blackmail? Pimple cream, vodka, nudey magazines and fireworks?

I'm guessing the hackers don't leave their basements much....

Default More Than 100 ESPN Employees Signed Up For Ashley Madison From Work

Quote:
Years before you likely started reading this website, Deadspin extensively covered ESPN’s “horndoggery” era, one filled with illicit sex and affairs and rumors and scandals that finally more or less came to an end after some harsh words from the company’s then-president.

An analysis of data released in last week’s Ashley Madison hack reveals all those bottled-up energies finding, or at least attempting to find, an outlet. We’ve already noted here that we’ve found 39 Ashley Madison accounts that were registered with an ESPN email address, but by searching instead for accounts that were using a known (per publicly-available registries) ESPN IP address at the time of signup we found many, many more.

How many? 101, to be specific—with dozens of them highly influential executives, vice-presidents, and producers. ESPN employees responsible for such popular programming as SportsCenter and Sunday NFL Countdown took time out from work to sign up for the cheating-oriented dating service, as did powerful senior finance directors, marketing higher-ups, and assistants to that same ESPN president who vowed to end the Bristol campus’s culture of extramarital adventuring.

^To help prove this point, Gawker posted an article outing Joe Biden's recently deceased son as having an Ashley Madison profile.

Evidence that the number of real women on the site was vanishingly small?
