Video is powerful.....but 20 dead eight year olds should have been the most powerful thing to ever happen for gun control. Instead gun laws were mostly left alone or loosened, and gun sales went through the roof. You can similarily expect gun sales to spike here as the "They're coming for our guns" crowd needs to make sure they have 60 guns instead of 55 because only having 55 is just not enough.
Do you think the shooter being black this time matters?
I know I'm reaching.

That's actually relevant to this story as the shooter had a history of workplace problems with this station and other former stations/employees in terms of anger issues and being quick to take offense - ostensibly claiming racism in many cases. I won't dismiss those claims as false but anecdotally, I did work with someone like this once who came to our workplace from Atlanta. She was also quick to take offense, take every incident, and frame it in the context of racism. This was a shock to most of the co-workers as we were all Canadians and this wasn't something we were used to. It reminds me how much racial relations/tensions is part of the culture in the US and it's something that we as Canadians might not directly be able to experience or relate to.
The shooter being black has sadly already created a lot of bad humor on the internet. When his identity was not yet known, the internet detectives had already dug up all the photos and pointed out "must be the black guy" as the culprit.
It seems he faxed a 23 page document to the news station. I am curious what his motivation was. His twitter ramblings seemed a bit insane from what I can see from news sites.
He apparently has filed a few complaints over the years saying he was discriminated against for race, all of them unproven. I imagine his motivation is his belief that white people are all racist.

^^^ Interesting. I was going to say that the only relevance that the shooter being a black might have is that it will give the Fox News crew a narrative to spin the discussion away from the gun issue.
Support for gun ownership in the U.S. isn't simply a matter of the NRA and money spent on political lobbying. We're talking about deeply held beliefs about freedom, violence, and government. Trying to look at gun control in the U.S. through the lens of a rational, utilitarian belief system is useless. You can't reason people out of a belief they didn't reason themselves into in the first place.

I saw it on twitter the second he posted it. I didn't actually know it was his account. I just followed a link to Bryce account. I noticed he tweeted like seconds ago. I thought their was no way he was tweeting if he was being chased down by the cops. Sure enough two videos where posted. One sick messed up person.

I'm not sure that black people are any less prone to being the shooter in gun violence than any other race, so I am not sure what you mean by that. Unless there is some data out there that says otherwise.
Unless you mean that the shooter was black and the victims were white, but then again I would need to see a link or something that verifies that being a special case. The DC sniper was black and the victims mostly white from what I recall. I don't remember it being a catalyst for change.

WTF? Sure it's worth it. I was pointing out the requirements to make it happen to bring some realism to the conversation.
Why the hostility?
The hostility, while it wasn't intentional, is probably built up frustration over hearing the same old excuses each and every time major gun violence happens in the USA. One tends to get sick of it all, and sick of the lack of regard for innocent lives. I'm not referring to you, I'm referring the gun culture that exists and continues in your country.
People can only do so much from the internet, its up to your leaders and future leaders to take a legit stand.
Easier said than done, I know.
