Bandwagoners are part of sports - not everyone is going to be an avid, die-hard fan. It's okay.

And baseball might have a bigger chasm than most sports because, with 162 games, and the playoffs being fairly rare, the casual fan isn't brought in to the fold as often.

Whereas, for serious fans, it's an everyday thing. It's about the rhythm and the history of the game. It's possible to watch a team through thick and thin.

Yes, the bandwagoners will probably disappear as fast as they came, but it's okay. I don't get why people complain about it.

I have been a die-hard fan of both the Expos and the Jays from day one. And at times, that's been a lonely experience. I like it when they become popular because now other people want to talk baseball with me again.

Baseball is a sport where the bandwagon seems to bother me less just due to the nature of the sport and schedule.

Games are played in the middle of summer, and there are 162 of them. Hard to be a continuous "die-hard" if your team is always out of the race by the end of July.

I'm sure there are a lot of casual fans who have always kept an eye on the team, but are now coming out of the woodwork with more vocal support and are actually watching games that mean something and I'm sure if you asked them in the dark ages if they had a favorite Baseball team they would answer Blue Jays.

I hope the other New York team is interested for a Reyes reunion. I'd assume that he'll be moved to 2B once the Yankees pick him up to replace Stephen Drew.

Went to Bodog thinking about putting down some money on the Jays to win the world Series. I was surprised they were the favourites to win the World Series at 4 to 1. This despite them being 8th right now in league standings.

The Royals are 5 to 1 and the Cardinals 7.5

Vegas sure likes the Jays right now.

Yeah, it's just temporary while they have off-days and can get by on a 4 man rotation.

They are also on the road where Hutchison hasn't been great. And Philly is a National League park, where having an extra position player can be helpful.

The Jays have 43 games remaining on their schedule and if they continue at the current winning pace of .546, they will finish with 88 wins.

The Yankees have 45 games remaining and if they continue on their pace of .556, they will finish with 90 wins.

In order for the Jays to match the Yankees' pace of 90 wins, they will have to finish 25-18, of a .581 winning percentage.

Leaves 36 other games for the Jays
Leaves 38 other games for the Yanks

Extrapolating that .546 and .556 pace for the jays and yanks respectively

19.656 wins - 20-16 + 5-2 = 25-18 Jays
21.128 wins - 21-17 + 2-5 = 23-22 Yanks

Current records -
65-54 Jays - 90-72
65-52 Yanks - 88-74

That is one tight race, on the giant assumption that the Jays take 5 of 7 from the Yanks. Taking 4 of 7 would result in a tie if the current win pace is still applied.

Indians president Mark Shapiro has “emerged as a strong candidate” to succeed retiring Blue Jays president/CEO Paul Beeston, reports Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports. The Blue Jays have, in fact, already reached out to Shapiro about the position, Rosenthal continues.

Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports reported earlier this week that the Blue Jays made a strong run at Dombrowski, and their interest pushed the Red Sox to give Dombrowski full decision-making authority.

I can tell you that's been the case for me over the years. That and baseball gets very little attention or coverage down here so it's hard to watch games even if I want to. But I have noticed a surge in Blue Jays hats around here lately, what with there being so many Canadians in Queenstown.

And going off topic now, but you know how some people will wear hockey jerseys when they're snowboarding? I've seen SO many snowboarders in Canucks jerseys this year. Like, do they even pay attention to hockey? Typical Canucks fans, repping their team in a foreign country where no one will call them out on how terrible they are!

I have no shame in admitting I'm a pretty casual baseball fan. Being Canadian, naturally I follow the Jays the most.

Obviously right now it's fun to follow the Jays, and if someone legitimately has a problem with "bandwagoners" I say go pound salt. How can you be a die hard fan of several sports at once, and still have a normal life? Like I said, I got no problem admitting I'm no die hard.

I'm going to the Sunday Angels v Jays game. Should be a good one. Was hoping for Price, but looks like it'll be Dickey that day.

I think you're getting a lot of old Expos fans on this bandwagon. After the team left we were wandering around, wanting to like the Jays but they were so mediocre and uninteresting.

Jose Bautista has refused to do one-on-one interviews with Sportsnet for the past three months in protest of the broadcaster’s refusal to pay the cost of a designer suit purchased by rookie Devon Travis as part of a TV segment aired on Sportsnet on May 19.

Bautista declined to comment when approached about the issue last week, but confirmed the Star’s understanding of the conflict.

Bautista, a six-time all-star who has played in Toronto since 2008, has told Sportsnet executives he will not do any interviews until Travis is reimbursed for the cost of the suit or he is given a gift certificate from Gotstyle, the men’s clothier featured in the segment.

Bautista believes Sportsnet took advantage of Travis — since it was the network’s idea to do the suit-buying special — and that he needs to stand up for his rookie teammate, who is unable to stand up for himself given his lower-echelon status in the league and with his new team.

I'm kind of with him here. You tell the player you want to do a special with him buying the suit, so you'd have to expect they'd cover the purchase...
