So jealous! Three of my friends made it to the Lighthouse yesterday. They didn't even need to use their forgiveness. Just pumped out 7 wins after trying it for a few weeks. The most wins I've ever gotten on my card was 3 lol.
Last night was a weirdly busy night in Destiny in general, especially given that Monday night is usually dead. 3 guys doing Trials, 6 guys doing VoG. I got left behind and played Rocket League by myself hahah. Got my platinum trophy for that game though!
I just got around to finally playing Destiny. I've been off and on for maybe the last 2 weeks or so. I am up to level 10 finally. I am at a part I just can't seem to do. On those lfg sites will I find any low level guys? I suck at the game and I know it, I really don't want to stumble into some hardcore place and just tick a bunch of people off with my noobish play.

DestinyLFG is really designed for end game content. You should be able to solo up to the level cap of 20 without to much trouble. You may want to try and gain a few levels in PvP if you hit a wall
Anyone watch the TTK preview stream at noon today? Got a pretty awesome preview of all the new stuff happening at the tower.
It was pretty good... Color me surprised but it looks like the Gally isn't moving forward with us. The year 1 heavies that look like there moving forward is just the Thunderlord and the Truth. Things might change come release, but I'd honestly be ok with no Gally moving forward.
I like the selectable perks now on the gear and weapons... and no weekly cap on the marks you can earn is nice too.

Wish they would've gotten rid of reforging though... As much as I liked it at the start it got boring because it made getting that new legendary weapon with hopefully a better roll non existent... and once the community finds "the perks" on certain weapons everyone starts rolling with them

The best part about Destiny is it doesn't matter one bit what level you are, you can always go and play with your buddies, regardless of which mission they're on. Doesn't affect the exp at all. If you see me on, feel free to shoot me an invite, I'll happily help you out.

Most of my playtime is on hold for a few weeks though, until the expansion lands.

Didn't see any reforging options on the weapons on the stream though. It'll exist for old guns it seems from HoW but those won't matter too much outside of general PvP.
Quite like the quality of life changes so far. The collector in me will be happy to be able have other miscellenous things to collect like all the shaders, emblems and ships. More quests, weekly crucible stuff for those who enjoy that side of the game and no limit to gaining legendary marks. Lots to look forward too even as a basic update.

You might be under-leveled. One of the first things you should do the moment you have access to them is do bounties. At your level, you should be able to do some Vanguard bounties, Crucible bounties, and if you have the expacs, Eris bounties. Petra bounties are probably too high level for you at the moment. Cashing in those packages gets you 2500-5000 xp and occasionally other rewards.
Yeah, I got the sense that you couldn't re-roll the new weapons as well. I think that really helps the more casual player in competitive PvP. I feel like I'm not terrible, but not great, but I don't have the time to grind out materials required to roll a weapon 20+ times to get the perfect roll. As a result, competitive PvP eats me up as everyone has rolled the perfect weapon, rather than having to adapt to the roll they got with the drop.
To be honest, I hope they make the year one weapons weaker in general PvP too so we can avoid the perfect roll snipers / shotguns / etc. going forward (as in you'll have to use year 2 weapons in general PvP as well as competitive PvP). Make it more about skill than someone who can spend the most time getting materials for good rolls.

PvP is far more about positioning and the angles given your strengths and weaknesses as a player than the weapons you are using.
One of the biggest things I've learned over time is to go back through my gameplay and analyze situations that I die and what I could have done differently. Sometimes you simply get out sniped, or someone pulls a great play (kudos to them). But I would bet that 75% of the time my deaths come from a judgement error by me.
It is quite easy to outplay people using "perfect rolled" weapons. You just have to skew the odds in your favor with proper positioning and strategy.

Oh, I totally agree that positioning and strategy play a huge factor. I guess I'm just saying that if I have the same skills / abilities / gameplay as someone else, I often come out on the wrong end of a kill become of a better rolled weapon. Essentially it gives the people who play a lot an advantage and takes a little skill out of it. I can't count how many times I get one-shotted with a shotgun and I didn't get a shot off at all because I know my range doesn't dictate it.
In the end, I just want it to be a bit more enjoyable and I don't have to worry when I join a group to play that they groan when I don't have rangefinder, rifled barrel, whatever, in all my weapons.

I find that I get killed a lot due to bad judgement calls as well.
I've really been focusing on changing my routes if I've been getting destroyed in one certain location. It sounds obvious, but I find myself getting caught up and running back for "revenge"a lot.
I've also been trying to stay moving more. A lot of times when I see an opponent coming on radar around a corner or something, I've waited for them to come around the corner, but after getting shotgunned 100 times in that situation, I've started backing up to engage them in a more long range fire fight.
