So the hockey rink has a clear roof? That's interesting to say the least.

I hope there is some parking planned somewhere in the design.

STH get complimentary jet packs!

Out of town, twice a year commuters like me could use the exercise anyway.

I was just thinking that too. Glass roof hockey arena? That would be amazing. And a really sweet concert venue set up as well.

Parking will probably all be in parkades or underground.

The Sean Chu Memorial Cycle Track will be heavily incorporated into the design.

I think this looks like a leak of some sort of prop or poster or something for the meeting. Just a guess. There's what looks like a reflection of a person on the bottom left.

If this design is real, then the west end is going to get a complete overhaul. Exciting stuff.

Is it possible this isn't a rendering and actually a model inside a box with a pane of glass over top?

Quite a bit of it looks like a rendering, then random trees, cars, water etc. looks randomly 3D for whatever reason. Plus that reflection in bottom left...

You can see the mouse pointer in the middle of the picture. I'm pretty sure its a screen capture.

Nope, there's a mouse pointer in the middle of the rendering

I wonder what all that extra space in the hockey arena is?

The mouse is pointing to the parking stall in the complex.

Not sure if this is legit, but I like the idea of a clear roof on the arena. Why not? It appears almost every seat is in a box though.

I assume there's a field house buried under the river someplace.

Don't see anything different infrastructure wise that would help not cause major traffic issues and bottlenecks on 14 St. And Bow Trail, but I guess that would come later with municipal involvement...Complex itself looks cool, surrounding buildings look a bit dated.

Would be shocked for the arena to have a glass clear roof. The Staples Centre has lots of black cloth to block ambient, sunlight, etc at entrance ways from open foyer.

Just trying to thing of materials that could be used to control lighting levels.

Either which way it's exciting.

The HC Davos arena has natural light. I can get behind that.

I think those are sky suites that overlook both the football field and the ice surface. I would expect the seating bowls to be below, and out of view of this picture.

That looks amazing.

I don't think those 'clear roofs' are going to be in for the hockey arena. I would assume it's just a temporary rendering of a clear rooftop to show what the interior of the arena will look like in the other pictures we see tomorrow.

If someone went to that much trouble they would have released it a long time ago to get people talking. I'd say we're looking at the real deal and it looks absolutely world class from what I can see.
Let me rephrase. Love the scale, love the density, dont like the gap in development. Saying that, perhaps this plan only refers to land currently owned by the developing parties.

The fieldhouse design is awesome. The arena design seems very conceptual and impractical. Too many reasons why a glass room cant work for a concert/ice venue. But ill withhold further judgement until we see details!
