Some laughable quotes in that article already which means this is only going to get more interesting. For example:
	Quote:

		| Previous estimates have put the cleanup costs at between $50 million and $300 million — a cost Keating said the city shouldn’t bear.
“If the Flames organization is looking at that type of thing, that would have to be part of their responsibilities as well,” he said.

“That’s part of the deal,” Keating said. “They can’t build there and actually expect the city to do the clean up.”
 |
Also thought this was kinda funny

	Quote:

		| We don’t want Sunalta to end up like the area around the Stampede grounds right now. It’s a wasteland down there,” he said. |
Because the proposed area is such a charm right now..

The 0 subsidy route for the land is that the city pays for the clean up cost then sells the land to the flames at market value.
The clean up is the cities or provinces liability regardless of who develops the land so they should do it to spur the development.

Agreed, the area isn't ... nice.. but he is right about the increase traffic within the community. Parking will become worse then it already is. Community association should get a voice.

Oh I don't disagree, I just think that's a pretty dramatic quote out of the gates. Could have just kept at were looking forward to seeing the project and working with CS&E to ensure our communities voice is heard

I've played Street Fighter II against Muta before. He's definitely the King when he's Ken.

I'm confused by this, does he mean he doesn't want Sunalta to end up like Erlton or Mission? By "wasteland", does he mean wasted by the flood? Someone please explain.

Evidently he means that he doesn't want Sunalta to end up the way Victoria Park was for decades. Because you know, the Flames are going to be notorious slumlords, buy up the whole neighbourhood for future expansion (which never happens), and then let all the buildings decay until they fall down. And you know, there hasn't been any new construction in Vic Park since they pried the land out of the Stampede Board's cold, dead fingers.
'Cos you know, everything is absolutely destined to happen exactly the same way it happened before. And everything that has happened once will go on forever, even if it's already stopped.

So Calgary Pepsi NEXT? I am a Coke fan, was hoping Coke would be it, but I think the oilers have a deal in works, something with Coke Zero.

To be fair I live in Sunalta currently and it's not like it's a really nice neighbourhood...
Garbage, homeless folks, halfway houses etc etc

No matter how well reconfigured roadways coming out of the district are, I'm trying to fathom concurrent events at these facilities. Say a football game with 35,000 plus an arena concert of, say, 18,000.
