Skip the middle man and get him straight to United.
United may very well be in the running. If I solely rely on the more reliable sources, it looks like Arsenal really want Benzema but will only bend their wage structure so much. Additionally, there are a few other clubs in the running and it may come down to what Benzema values. Lucky for him, the clubs that are seriously interested in his services can offer a variety of valuables.

Might not be a huge deal for the top clubs, but this would be a big coup for Stoke. Hopefully (for us) Bojan picks up where he left off prior to injury last year, and is back sooner then later. Wouldn't be surprised if Walters leaves maybe this window if he feels he's dropped too far down the depth chart now. Would love to keep him though, he's a tenacious s.o.b.... maybe WBA are interested
its a good signing for Stoke, I know he turned them down earlier but his stock has really fallen since Basel and even if it's only a season he has reason to put in a shift this year

Looks like a done deal. Good deal for Stoke and I'm glad we got points off of them already.

apparently West Ham are NOT signing Barton after fan protests:
Quote:
West Ham have pulled out of signing Joey Barton after the storm of protest from the club’s fans.
Mirror Sport understands the Hammers had been close to a deal for 32-year-old midfielder Barton, as they felt he had been Queens Park Rangers' best player last season when they fought unsuccessfully against relegation back to the Championship.
However, they decided to listen to their supporters — the majority of whom were firmly against taking on the controversial free agent.
A club insider said on Tuesday night: "We've pulled out in the last hour because of the strength of feeling from the fans. He’s a good player and based on football decisions we’d have signed him, but in the interests of team spirit we haven’t.”
Good on them for listening to their fans, but shame on them for even considering signing him in the first place. If there's one thing the league doesn't need, then it's another year of Joey Barton.
yeah but to be fair, adidas did a fantastic job with the kit. If Chevrolet didn't use that stupid golden cross but only white "Chevrolet" lettering, it would be perfect.
he's getting more and more creative when it comes to finding a scapegoat after a bad performance. It's laughable really, but we all know Jose is a lunatic. It's pretty clear that the doc did absolutely nothing wrong, the ref actually signaled her twice to come on, so it wasn't even her own decision.
The punishment is a joke too, have never seen anything like that before. "You're not fired, you just can't do your work anymore"
I'm just catching up on 'Doctorgate' and wow Jose is being a tool on this one.
For all of his time wasting tactics now a doctor goes onto the field to do her job for a player who is holding his head, faking or not, and Jose basically demotes her because he wanted more time so Chelsea could potentially get a winner?
Its just so....Chelsea. Its something you'd expect of Chelsea.

van Gaal preparing the fans for the inevitable DDG sale by setting him up as the bad guy, I guess.
Quote:
However, Van Gaal also said the origins of that decision came from a meeting eight days ago when, according to the United manager, De Gea was asked outright if he wanted to play and told the club’s coaching staff he did not want to be involved because he was too distracted. That, in turn, prompted Van Gaal to hold a separate meeting with his assistants, when they decided they should remove De Gea from their plans and bring the Argentina international Sergio Romero into the team, since Víctor Valdés had already burnt his bridges at Old Trafford.
“We talked with him [De Gea] and he fully agreed with our decision,” Van Gaal said. “I have one assistant coach and another assistant coach so we speak about that kind of thing together. We have a goalkeeping coach, Frans Hoek, and I’m not doing everything alone.
“Frans Hoek … he has a meeting with David de Gea and he asked him: ‘Do you want to play?’” Asked what the response was, Van Gaal said: “‘No.’ Then I have to take the decision. It is a process. We had been observing him in preparation, he was not so good, he was not the same David de Gea as before. He was my best player last season. According to the fans, he was the best of the last two years.”
De Gea is playing a dangerous game here. Recall LVG sat Ballon D'or winner, Rivaldo.
Real also just signed Spain's #2, in Kiko Casilla
So De Gea isn't sold, he's sat for the year and Casilla thrives?
Then what? Real and him agree to a signing where he's #2?
And being rusty he won't start for Spain next summer Euros
I bloody love this hardline LVG is playing.
LVG should really #### with them, and threaten to cup tie him vs champions league minnows.

Agreed. I dont think clubs play hardball from a managerial perspective often enough.

How many clubs could afford to turn away a £20m return?
If deGea is not willing to play, I can admire the brinkmanship from LvG. However, if deGea is willing to stay another season but is simply posturing and LvG wants to sit him, LvG is as foolishly self-absorbed as they say.

Self absorbed? Perhaps, but United has the fortunate fortunes, to play hardball.
This transfer saga is a big distraction now.
I think the asking price should be increasing, as United will come running for Cillassen now (not my first choice). Doing this business at the 11th hour puts strain on the seller needing to replace that player.
May 1, $35m
Jul 1, $40m
Week before deadline, $50m
Additionally, this brinkmanship is not unlike the trade deadline from last year with Cammalleri. Both teams realize they're losing an asset today for little, but they're looking at precedence and the long game.
