If you want I can post the measurements. It's a bit of a trick to get the angles so the uprights don't get in the way. To vertical and the bike won't go in far enough. If it is just something to keep bikes upright in the shed, I built a vertical one out of 2x4's. Much easier and cheaper, but not mobile as it is screwed to the wall and can't support itself.

Then again, if it's a QR attachment, it may be for 14lb road bikes and not 34lb mtbs with non-qr through-axles.

1up racks gets a lot of love on mtbr - it would be useful if one of the magazine did an in depth bike rack shootout.

I purchased the swag,an quad 2+2 from mec......it works fine, it is not as nice as a Kuat, but it was also a solid unit for about a third of the cost of the Kuat.

Swagman also make wheel trays for fat bikes now.

I'm assuming the Bragg Creek trails will be off limits this weekend? Anyone know the status of them right now? Hopefully they dry enough today adn tomorrow to ride Sunday.

If you do go to Bragg Creek, watch out for the Ride to Conquer Cancer. Saturday morning 9:00-noonish it will be coming down highway 22. Sunday it will come back, probably around 11-3. Last year traffic got quite backed up at the 4 way.

Also for anyone leaving town, it starts around 8:30 at COP and traffic gets stopped heading to the mountains on and off until the cyclists clear through. Please drive respectfully!

I'm looking at a new Trek that is available on their dealer order system but not on their website. It is available in their newest catalogue. Anyone know if you can find those catalogues online?

My guess would be that the trails would be a little muddy in spots, but rideable.

If you head out there and your tire are leaving ruts, stop riding and save the trail

According to the trail report fb group, Bragg is in great shape.

I just put in 2 hour at Mt Seymour (YVR northshore) on a borrowed 10 year old, 80mm travel bike. I think the folks here in Vancouver have a different definition of XC than I do. It's a real bumpy, grinding slog of a ride. But the day is beautiful.

I just had a very dangerous run-in on the way to work. Going on 4th st in Mission, on my way over to 5th to jump on the bike path, I get an suv on my back tire honking his horn, then pulling a super close pass on me. I was going traffic speed!

I caught up to him at the light and said don't do that, it put's my life in danger. His gf pipes up and says that I'm not supposed to be on the road or should ride the shoulder. I was holding my own lane and will not take the shoulder in that situation, not to mention there was an open construction dig on the shoulder sidewalk coming up! The guy just mumbles something that may have been an apology.

THEN, a 60ish ###### starts honking and screams at me "I saw what you did you f****t, stay off the road or go use that gay bike path", He has 2 young women in the car with him with his convertible roof down. I told him that I was on my way to the path, I can't teleport, I follow the road rules, and don't want my life threatened by ignorant drivers. He then cusses and cusses then the light changes and I can't reasonably pursue, so I make my way over to the bike path...

I know we live in a nice 1st world society where fighting isn't permitted, but when it is against the law to smack someone and teach them a lesson for putting your life at risk... there is an issue there.

In hindsight, I should have gotten the plates and reported them, but I am not used to whipping out my cellphone while on my bike really.

Ha, yeah, here I think I'm a rockstar, then I rode the xc race course on the sunshine coast. It was quite humbling. Same with the test of metal course in squamish. Awesome fun ride, but not easy like the riding is here.

Were both people yelling at you for the same incident?

Maybe something happened that you didn't notice..

Not that I condone what was said or done.

It's happened to me before. They're all kinds of tough when they have 3000lbs of automobile between you an them. Just remember the plates of you can and report them for harassment. The confrontation, while satisfying, is probably not worth it.

These arsehole drivers behave the same way with cars, too, I find. I cycle commute from Country Hills to the SW and take a variety of streets including Centre, 4th and 10th. Fortunately, I haven't had any issues with drivers, so I like to think the majority are courteous to cyclists. I have more problems with drivers who aren't paying attention. A few times while going through Kensington I have come across drivers backing out of their stalls and they aren't even looking. They are looking at their dopey back-up cameras.

Drivers are too easily distracted now. I won't even consider riding my bike on the highway anymore. Perhaps I am too paranoid, but I can get an effective ride using a combo of bike paths and side streets.

It was both for the same incident yea. The incident was me just being there though, nothing weird or crazy. They were both just ignorant and decided to play it close with my life as a result.

Prairie province cities aren't used to have cyclists, so you get yelled at to get on the sidewalk and such, then the police tell you to get off the sidewalks.

I've been cycling for decades. I've commuted for greater than 28 years. The first few out of necessity...no car. Then just because I love to ride my bike. I've ridden in a number of cities. Sometimes it was to work, others was because I was on vacation, and I always take my bikes on vacation. Calgary is the only place I've been harassed, whether it's a car honk, the finger, or getting yelled. No idea why. When I was younger, I'd confront them, but now I just have a laugh. It's not worth it.

Is it worth it, as a bike commuter, to get the front+rear go-pro set-up? I've seen a few split screen gopro driver shaming youtubes pop up now and again on /r/calgary.

I had an interesting little event happen last night and I figured I'd post it on here for kicks just in case someone on here happens to have had a similar experience.

The GF and I rode our bikes to the Science Centre last night for adults night.
I ride a blue Trek Seek, and she has some beige trek town bike with a big ass brown seat.

So as we are riding up I say "Hey look, that's the exact same bike as mine". As we get closer we realize that it is locked up with another bike that is the exact same bike my GF is riding.

We locked our bikes next to theirs just like they had theirs locked (they even had the same lock as my GF) hoping that they would at least see them and get a kick out of it as well, and hopefully we would cross paths at the end of the night when we were leaving.

We spent the rest of the evening looking at every couple trying to figure out if they might be the ones.

When we left at the end of the night the other bikes were gone, but I like to think that perhaps they saw them and got a kick out it too.

Anyway, if any of you are our bike Doppelgängers, just thought I'd say "Hello, nice bikes".

How often would you have to change a chain and cassette on a road bike? I would think you should be able to get 3-5000 kms from a chain and double that for the cassette?
