Well then to each their own.
I think the LED's on the Calgary tower are a massive upgrade and I like buildings that light up.
Those stadiums you posted are nice though. Especially that Cape Town one.

The only thing really wrong with BC place is that it's too big. If it only seated about 40k max it wouldn't feel so cavernous and empty for Lions and Whitecaps games.

Yeah, I love the lights too, and apparently there's over a million combinations. I guess sometimes the way it looks will make some people turn up their nose, but it changes every day.

Is it just me, or does it look like a giant Saddledome? Except with a hole cut in the top.

Someone should ask Muta if that's what we're getting for the new Stamps stadium. Saddledome V2.0

Fun facts: at 1.23 million people, Calgary would be the 105th largest city in China; the 29th largest city in India; the 50th largest "metropolitan area" in the United States; the 22nd largest city proper in Europe; the 46th largest "urban agglomeration" in Africa; the 35th largest city proper in South America; the 30th largest metropolitan area in the Middle East; and the 6th largest metropolitan area in Australia.
According to wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o..._by_population
Calgary was the 403rd largest urban area in the world in 2013; the new number of 1.23 million would bump the city up to 388th, tied with Chifeng, China and Hama, Syria.

Those two surprise me. I didn't know there were relatively few big cities in Europe, or so many in the Middle East.

Tons of little ones.
The densely populated European Countries are full of smaller towns and cities. You can't go 5 minutes without driving by a town in Poland for example.

That may be slightly misleading, since the Calgary had 1,406,700 people in it's metro area in 2014. If you compare the city to other metro areas, it would be the 5th largest populated area in Australia, and the 42nd largest metro area in the USA.

Those population figures are stunning. Airdrie at 58k?! Lethbridge has almost 100k now?! I know I don't keep track or pay attention, but that's shockingly large. I always think of Lethbridge as like 55-60k (which it was not too long ago). I guess I had no idea on Airdrie, but that seems like a lot of growth.

It's a mess up there. It's basically all the same 5 houses sprawled over the same 5 streets stretched out as far as the eye can see on the non pretty side of Calgary's outskirts, with the highway separating it into two twin communities of shame, and they just keep going.

I tend to agree.
Building Airdrie on both sides of the QE2 was a mistake. IMO, they should have build the entire residential area on the West side of the QE2, and placed the industrial area on the east side. The city really does not seem to have an identity, besides being a commuter town to Calgary.
