Nick Kyrgios has sparked a social media storm after footage was broadcast of the Australian tennis badboy appearing to personally trash-talk Swiss opponent Stan Wawrinka during a match in Montreal.

Reaction has been swift after Kyrgios seemed to mutter to Wawrinka "Kokkinakis banged your girlfriend. Sorry to tell you that mate", referring to Australian colleague Thanasi Kokkinakis.

Wawrinka was reported to have had a difficult break-up with his ex-wife Ilham earlier this year.

I'm personally amazed Stan managed such a warm handshake after retiring with a bad back. what's funny is how Sportsnet didn't even attempt to mute or interrupt Kyrgios' tirades about the line calling, etc...he was just straight dropping F and BS bombs while the commentators merrily eavesdropped along with everyone else.

There's personality and then there's that. Stan wants the ATP to do something about it, like a suspension or fine. I guess we'll see.

So I went and looked up the other implicated parties in this incident. Wawrinka is 30 and recently divorced his wife. His girlfriend, Donna Vekic, is 19 and a tennis player. Thanasi Kokkinakis is also 19.

Whether its to watch him play or to see his antics, Kyrgios is pretty much must watch TV at the moment. Could end up being a significant waste of talent if he can't get his head right. The fact that his mom and brother both went on Twitter and not only defended him but ripped on Stan's girlfriend again shows where it came from. Wonder how Kokkinakis feels about this.

Kyrgios got fined $10,000, was harshly booed coming on the court today, and promptly lost to John Isner in straight sets. Hopefully he learns a thing or two from this. If nothing else don't talk big time #### if you can't win anything.
